Saw Trump signed an executive order blowing up California’s cap and trade program. Tesla makes a lot of money selling credits through that program. That should be interesting.

I hope they are also running the ads in congressional districts that and less than or equal to 5% red to put pressure on those members who are somewhat at risk

So he gets insurance proceeds on cars that would otherwise not be sold?

One way that they’re different is not using a bus does not require committing arson

So he collects the insurance which is effectively as good as selling them. Better way to make him suffer is to leave them sitting untouched in a large parking lot with nobody buying them.

Does pretending to be doge qualify as impersonating a federal official?

It’s a great time to be an employer, like for instance if you owned a car company or a rocket ship company for example

I think Canadians are 100% right to feel pissed off and boycott America. Christ, we renamed French fries because we didn’t think the French gave us enough support. I’m sorry we treated you poorly and I get that you have to stand up for yourselves. Seems like a fair response.

I don’t know if he actually contributed to the campaign but the spending that hit the news was an independent expenditure- are those covered by the prohibition? I know they are not covered by California laws on the matter

It’s a pretty direct path to the money these days - not that hard to follow it

That’s the thing that these guys have been looking past - the thing that made America great in the first place was a stable and predictable rule of law coupled with liberal policies on finance and bankruptcy- that’s why we attracted so much investment

I heard about this one private scam where a ceo got $54 billion as a bonus. Seems shady as hell.

Well when you’ve taken over the government as completely as he has then you, I guess, have some ability to define what a crime is under your new regime.

The real lesson in all of this is Matt Gaetz shouldn’t have withdrawn because the senate Rs are all too afraid of a musk funded primary challenge

California should either get rid of its zero emission vehicle program or modify it so it doesn’t benefit Tesla so much. The state is a major driver of his wealth

The tapes are clear that the air traffic controller called the helicopter’s attention to the plane so ATC did their job. It is looking like this was caused by helicopter pilot error.

Is there something about the airspace around National that makes it less able to accommodate those flights? Dulles is already a busier airport. Wouldn’t stopping the flights at National just shift the problem to Dulles or is there something else at play?

He’ll get economies of scale and get that down to below $10 million per year easy. And the DOGE crowd will take a victory lap. But then a story will come out on how little China spends on detention camps and the market will crash.

I think the way this will play out is appeals court affirms the district court and Supreme Court simply declines to hear it. If it somehow gets in front of them all bets are off but I think the non-Thomas/Alito members of the right wing would probably prefer to ignore it bc they know it’s stupid

The best part is it means his wealth will get split up at some point - sure, even split 27 ways it is a fuck ton of money, but dilution is a good thing here I think

Original Twitter used to be a very good source of actual information if you were following the right people - I was able to track state legislation in real time by following political reporters who would tweet updates on bills from the Capitol floor. It used to be super useful. Obviously no longer

I like it here and it reminds me in many ways of old school Twitter but it is not yet as good as old school Twitter was at immediate breaking news and information. I see a lot of commentary on the fires here but less hard information. Hopefully that comes as more migrate over.

Thanks - do you know when this is estimated to actually be available in pharmacies and how do I know if the pharmacy is offering this one as opposed to a less effective one?

Let’s do it. Canada’s population is about the same as California. If it were one state with approximately the same number of house members and electoral votes as California our national level politics would look very different

At the very least it’s probably worth getting rid of stepped up basis at death. I’m struggling to understand a policy rationale other than it can be tough to find records. That issue has been solved.
