Creepy.

Shameful.

Does spectacular wealth excuse depravity? Some thoughts on Elon Musk and moral character.

No duh.

The grift is next-level, and it’s happening right under our noses in broad daylight. @pivotpod.bsky.social @karaswisher.bsky.social l loop

I want politics to be about a better everyday life. Here's what that can look like:

My favorite image of Pope Francis. The morning after being named Pope, as he was being driven away, he asked is driver to swing by the boarding house he and other Cardinals were staying at during the conclave. He wanted to make sure his bill was paid, so he paid it himself.

“As long as the problems of the poor are not radically resolved by rejecting the absolute autonomy of markets and financial speculation and by attacking the structural causes of inequality, no solution will be found for the world’s problems or, for that matter, to any problems.” — Pope Francis

A great overview of Trump's first 90 days of mahem.

Cruelty for the sake of being cruel.

"One of these individuals is a paragon of manliness; the other is an effete parasite. The fact that the MAGA movement has them confused is a problem." And not the only problem. Today's Triad from @jvl.bsky.social: www.thebulwark.com/p/a-tale-of-...

Nearly every great innovation this country every made going back 100 years can be traced to "federal support." It is mind-boggling that Republicans would want to cut it.

A lot of Republicans have sold their souls in the last few years but none more than this guy.

This.

40 years ago today, The Breakfast Club premiered. This first chords of this song instantly transforms Gen X kids into a child.

Embarrassing.

Elon—the richest man on Earth—is gutting the world’s largest provider of food aid. He could end world hunger single-handedly and still be the richest man alive. But he won’t. Instead, he spent 40 million on Super Bowl ads attacking USAID! Stand with USAID: share this counter-ad…

West Point is ordered by Trump to shut down the student chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers, but the West Point Polish Club (where cadets can "explore and enjoy Polish culture, history, and language") can remain? WTF? time.com/7212911/west...

"And what did 50 years of market worship get us? A gutted industrial base, a hollowed-out middle class, and an economy that can’t compete. We outsourced manufacturing, neglected our capacity to produce, and left ourselves dependent on fragile supply chains." www.thenation.com/article/econ...

Our economy is far larger than it was decades ago. Where have most of the gains gone? To the top. Any path forward must include a fight to restructure the economy toward more widely shared prosperity. This isn’t a blue state vs. red state phenomenon. It’s a class phenomenon.

The cruelty begins. www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...

Spot on. youtu.be/75BAUXZyWw0?...

In 1979, Jimmy Carter installed solar panels on the White House. In 1986, Ronald Reagan tore them down along w/Carter’s clean energy funding. This sums up the difference between the two men & political parties. Investing in solutions for the future vs canceling progress to score political points.

One of the greatest Americans. youtu.be/IpmHq0v1gwo?...

America's richest 10% now hold 60% of the nation's wealth. The bottom half of America? It holds just 6%. Wealth inequality is eating this country alive.

As you consider what went wrong-both in the USA generally-but also with the Democratic Party, I invite you to consider the data presented in this piece. It isn’t that Democrats were wrong, just completely unwilling to address the problem at the scale of the problem. time.com/5888024/50-t...

Good news San Diego, the sun is starting to set later than the day before. 🌅
