The city I live in has' free 'parking in all car parks and no traffic wardens. I don't think most council tax payers have grasped that they subside drivers coming into the city(as there's obviously a cost to the car parks)
comment in response to post
Most people will never think twice about the economics/politics of parking. Once you do, you realise how really weird it is!

Great evening, inspiring, inclusive and of course, very funny. Many people visibly moved. Thanks, Robin

Before the election people said to me 'why vote green, surely the point is to get the Tories out'.I always replied that not voting for what I believe would only marginalise my beliefs. I think they understand now.

Seems lots of us agree that EC should stand alone. I'd certainly vote for her in a straight race. As it is, I'm undecided. Will be watching carefully.

Got it. Are they for sale?
comment in response to post
Tice even more so. Odious charmless and shows no sign of anything resembling intelligence.

Someone was selling that. Not even going to give it a like!

I'd love to know how many MPs have actually visited a care home. I can't believe anyone with experience could be so careless with language.

The decision to drive an SUV as a town car is fundamentally antisocial, deliberately choosing to increase risk to other road users. How about the courts impose greater punishments for collisions caused by SUV drivers?

Mr Benn pins?

Really not saying anything which hasn't been said endlessly for the last 10 years.

In an admittedly perverse way, I wouldn't mind hearing more from reform as long as it wasn't Farage or the even more odious Tice. I think less guarded members might do a lot of shooting themselves in the foot and reveal the extent of their ignorance and inexperience.
comment in response to post
Ok, really not sure how that works- a political party isn't meant to oppose a rival party?
comment in response to post
Good idea. The right are busy demonising the phrase (Tice and his' net stupid zero'). They are very good at manipulating language and net zero is an easy target.
comment in response to post
The problem for green voters is that if you vote tactically you simply marginalise your party still further. Mine was a vote for the Green Party not against Starmer.

Pointless generalisation. Don't reduce my voting decisions to a full stop.

It's awful. It's obvious that none of those pontificating has been through the diagnosis process. For those who haven't, and are unsure, it's lengthy, tedious and often painful. You need persistence and considerable admin skills. You need to be prepared for rejection and prepared to start over again.

I mean, there are words, but this is a nice place...

Ok it's weird, but they are not all useless. Rovelli, Penrose eg. And Pinker looks more and more wrong about just about everything every day!

And 'its a common sense ruling for clarity ' when all parties are trying to work out how it works in practice
comment in response to post
Well, that's frankly hilarious!!

Ouch!

Whenever I hear or read' it's just common sense ' I'm instantly wary. And when it comes from the Mail, I'll usually be right to be.

Will do!

I saw Marley back in 1978 and the thing I remember almost more than anything of the gig was War ina Babylon and One Step Forward playing LOUD in the interval( after Rico!). Off to play them now, RIP indeed Max xx

Is there a template which can easily be sent to local authorities to push this? In the city where I live there are no traffic wardens and the SUVs too big for car parks simply park in loading bays and disabled bays. I have had endless dialogue with counsellors about this, but they clearly don't care

Aww, he might be my favourite so far!xxx

Tiny bookseller insight.. publication dates are pretty meaningless (unless you are some sort of celeb superstar, when there might be an embargo). Getting your book early can only be a good thing!

A few years back I had Radio 4 playing in the background. There was a fairly innocuous feature on the cost of childcare. Bizarrely they called upon ML to comment( obs he blamed too much regulation). I'm pretty sure the BBC simply had no idea what the IEA was

Also, if you can nationalise steel in a day, people might wonder why justice for Grenfell, sub postmasters, windrush and infected blood victims is measured in decades...

Just about... almost retired now, but do the odd shift at an indie. Lucky this month to have read your book and Robin Ince, covering a lot of bases!

Bloody hell. I read Hirschman Exit Voice And Loyalty back in the 70s as part of a politics degree. As I remember, it was a pretty innocuous theory of voting behaviour, not a recipe for end times. What's going on??

Maybe the least cool thing I'll ever post. coat of many colours, Dolly.

Meanwhile antisocial (and illegal) driving seems to be socially and politically acceptable.

Well, they campaigned on change, then didn't change, then on growth, but didn't grow, so maybe not such a surprise!
