I’ve long said visibility doesn’t often translate into vitality. Y’all see the public figure, but I’m a whole community organizer. If you know anything about this life, you know most of the labor is uncompensated and unseen.

Wild to make assumptions about what financial resources I do or do not have access to after a career in industries (media and nonprofits) that have continuously found queer and trans folks of color expendable. I haven’t been immune.

My co-founder and I are not currently salaried for our work with GLM despite clocking in more hours than a 9-to-5 weekly. All of our org. funds go to compensating contractors, basebuilding, and direct actions at this point.
