The little male pileated woodpecker is a wild one. Even his dad is questioning his choices. 🥸 #birds #woodpeckers #birdphotography #nature #backyardbirds

Here’s a rare member of the U.S. Senate who seems to understand how close we are to a dictatorship.

Chris Murphy: "We can't be preparing for the 2026 election. It might not come. All of our focus right now has to be on protecting the democracy, about stopping the corruption."

This past semester was the most stressful of my academic career. I had 180 students and about half cheated at some point in the semester They submit weekly reflections where the questions are opinion-based, graded only on effort, don't care about grammar SO MANY students submitted ChatGPT essays

Little eyebrows man from today 🥹 (Habronattus notialis, of course) #EmotionalSupportSpood

Well, guess who's flailing? "The Washington Post Plans an Influx of Outside Opinion Writers" (Obvs tho, an article by their rival could be a tad biased) Nevertheless... 🍿 #GiftLink

"Republicans are weird" remains a devastating, indisputably-true statement, and everyone who isn't part of MAGA should say it all the time. It works in every situation, even outside "culture war" stuff. Sure, there are strong merits to USAID, FEMA, CFPB—but also, destroying them is *weird*.

Halt! Who goes there? Squirrel of the Day for June 3, 2025 #sqrlpix

Harvard researcher Dr Sarah Fortune was only two years away from creating a vaccine that could have saved the 1.25 million people killed each year by tuberculosis. But last month, she received a letter telling her that the $60 million grant funding her research was being halted by President Trump.

This is patently untrue. A stochastic parrot vomiting up plagiarism slurry does not exhibit “a will to survive”. This is a last gasp to keep the bubble inflated while the grifters escape with cash, leaving devastation in their wake.

Builder.ai claimed to have a revolutionary new software engineering AI… and it was in fact All Indians 😅

I saw this guy the other day and thought he needed a cigarette since he's obviously a private detective who lives in a marina because he's ALREADY A BOAT. His name is Kristopher Clues and he can help you figure out the mystery.

Just got this update from Kobo which says it's going to use AI to read my works to "enhance" discoverability and marketing, and determine the "suitability" of the works and "adherence to Kobo’s Terms of Service" among other things. Which is why I'm immediately pulling my books from Kobo.

Starship: Dead End? By Will Lockett "Starship is such a moronic project that NASA already whooped its arse 58 years ago!" open.substack.com/pub/planetea...

Ah, but they thought they voted to deport moms they *didn’t know*.

"The Trump administration has ordered US consulates worldwide to conduct mandatory social media screening of every visa applicant seeking to travel to Harvard University, with officials instructed to view private accounts as potential signs of 'evasiveness'." www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Pretty funny getting this ad for used trucking containers in the NYT article about the Ukraine drone strikes

The "AI jobs apocalypse" is for the bosses by Brian Merchant @bcmerchant.bsky.social "If AI turns out to be able to do half of what its staunchest advocates say it can, isn’t its immense power an opportunity to decide for ourselves the kind of jobs that we think are important for a society to have?"

kind of obsessed with 2025 pride merch...I'm calling it cowardcore.

“[T]he Court allows the Government to do what it wants to do regardless [of the consequences], rendering constraints of law irrelevant and unleashing devastation in the process.” -- Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, in her dissent
