The comet moth, also known as the Madagascan moon moth (Argema mittrei). They’re endangered in the wild due to habitat loss from deforestation and agricultural activities but is bred in captivity. #nature #wildlife #science

I support my gay little turtle squirrel

the average canadian can also go to the hospital without starting a gofundme campaign

This study, if it survives this administration and isn't deleted from existence, is pretty damning for future generations to point to and say that the government knew they were in the wrong and tried to stop trans health care anyway

[trying to get trans women to stop smoking voice] not only will it keep HRT from working, it increases the chance for blood clots and a doctor might recommend taking you off E if it becomes a problem

So I've been watching more Helluva Boss with the SO & something strange happened. With episode 7 it becomes a different show. The edgy teenage shenanigans take a backseat to well done drama about family trauma, queerness, class, emotional intimacy issues, unreciprocated (or unseen?) love & longing.

Worth noting that this is also what the UK government review found, it just ignored all the evidence in its conclusions.

when you’re being mean to me, this is who you’re being mean to

Good morning; Texas HB 229 (gender definition bill) is on the Senate's intent calendar today. Deadline is just under two days. If passed, it would mandate binary sex in government documents, and define them based on reproductive organs.

it's unfathomably messed up that the president of the United States is using the power of his office to go after a single high school kid.

the plan to make america great again is to make us an impoverished garrison state dominated by trump and his oligarch buddies

Tl;dw: it's called 'Devils tower' because some racist bloke in the 19th century wanted to diss the natives and their name of 'Bear Lodge' for this amazing geological feature. There's also an ongoing petition to rename it back to Bear Lodge. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMRf...

Early filmmakers found some very creative ways to depict phone conversations, like this shot from Alice Guy-Blaché's Canned Harmony (1912)

If the concept of consent would kill an industry, that industry should not exist in the first place. This is not even a debate.

Great. Keep it up everyone. Don't let the suits think they can get away with bigger profits by simply replacing labour through theft.

Because I like to stay on top of what the newest hip thing is (hah) I finally checked out Helluva Boss with my partner yesterday as they're a big fan. It's pretty good, a darker edgier spiritual successor to Invader Zim. The kind of thing I could have got obsessed with in my teens or early 20s.

Lots of critical infrastructure still runs on COBOL code. Why didn't it get ported ages ago? Well... it's not that simple. Maya Posch explains. hackaday.com/2025/04/16/p...

The commentary track on my Lumière brothers Blu-ray set describes this as the first suspense film in the history of cinema. Will the baby make it all the way without falling? (Premiers pas de bébé 1896)

The thing with all these hyperracist and confabulist NYT articles are all gesturing at is the underlying issue where surpremacism, holding a supremacist worldview, necessarily requires the partcipant to construct and live in a non-empirical counter-reality in order to justify that worldview

When the Cass Review came out last year, the NYT rushed to cover it complete with post notifications. After reviews in Germany and Utah came out supporting gender affirming care for trans youth, dead silence. You can be just as biased in what you don't cover as what you do.

perfect microcosm of this entire debate: 1) cis ppl convinced GAC is harmful, call for more research, 2) research comes back showing GAC is safe and saves lives, 3) cis ppl ban GAC anyway...

WHERE ARE YOUR PROLETARIAN CHARACTERISTICS NOW, ACAB DOG

Now that I’m out of the convo, @nyara.vtube.social is facing extreme harassment from right-wingers. Yet no journalists nor major VTubers are speaking up for her. Is this the reality we face now? Trans VTubers run out of the space while cis people look on in silence? - A youtu.be/0o52dl-frdM?...

a terrible thing about the last ten or twenty years of comics is seeing how many massive talents are still with us and in poor health, dying young, forever freelancers that gave their physical health to make things that now fuel the biggest blockbusters ever. It’s not right.

Good. They should be, any game developers or publishers of ant size should avoid generative AI like the plague. You know why? Because GenAI is the aesthetic of the asset flip, it's what every piece of shovelware on Steam looks like now, it will make your game look cheap and stink of shovelware.

Lets be very clear here, its not trans people could be forced to present papers, its people SUSPECTED of being trans

lol I just got momentarily hysterical thinking about the fact that the New York Times got its managing director for communications to confirm on a Saturday that it is standing by its reporting that young women in China have tiny hands and this is why Apple has its factories there

Guess we gotta keep up the sentiment that GenAI sucks so that more companies start to feel it.
