📢Reminder ahead of 🌊#WorldOceanDay - let us know of any activities, on June 8 or in the surrounding weeks, that will highlight #ocean oxygen, #eutrophication, and/or #deoxygenation! We will amplify these efforts via our channels and include them in the upcoming issue of the #GO2NE newsletter.

Big Data, AI and Crypto companies reap huge profits; we utility customers are forced to subsidize them. Tyranny, IMO. eelp.law.harvard.edu/extracting-p...

Struggling to get the garden in this Spring due to the relentless rain. Worth the effort. Here is a photo of my vegetables from a couple years back in mid-summer. Wonderful food, and the exercise keeps me vigorous in my advancing years.

The recent (likely illegal) dismissal of the the head of the US copyright office impells me to stop posting artwork or photos for the tech bros to steal and generate their AI Slop. I have shut down all literary, art, and musical presence on the internet. Read this: issues.org/generative-a...

I "retired" from biotech in 2005 and started teaching at the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts. 20 years on, I'm still bringing music into the lives of people in my community. Found this photo from my 2008 student recital. I was teaching mostly guitar then, but have added piano & violin/fiddle.

On a sunny late November day last year, my wife's Queen Elizabeth rose graced our yard with one last beautiful blossom.

Looking forward to the, always amazing, CayAC art show opening May 2nd. One of my paintings will be displayed (in "Hell", of course). cayugaartscollective.weebly.com/annual-sprin...

The reason I was in Monterey in the mid-1960's was that I was studying the Russian language at DLI en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense...

In 1966 (!!!) I lived two blocks from this magical place, Lovers Point Park, in Pacific Grove, California

Rather than take classes & paint decorative images, I experiment with improvisational paintings. Instead of depicting what my eyes see, I paint what's in my mind. Example - "Nest in the Storm":

Sunset from my backyard. One of the reasons I live in Upstate NY in the Fingerlakes region!

Surprised, and pleased that my watercolor "Satan's Eye" will be included in the upcoming "Heaven & Hell" art show, opening May 2nd at the Community School of Art & Music in Ithaca, NY. Here's a photo of it, still on the easel:

One of my submissions for an upcoming art show: "Tears of the Earth" - acrylic on paper, done with a palette knife instead of brushes, a representation of the planet's response to the damage humans inflict on it's life forms.

When I was 7, before measles vaccine, I had the disease & very nearly died. Had 105 degree temperature, thrashed around in convulsions, hallucinated, and finally survived - barely. In my memory I can vividly recall the strange taste the disease left on my blistered tongue. Sorry - no pics or video.

Getting my garden ready. Along with music and art, this lifts my spirits in these difficult times. And.... thanks to this amazing group that supplies heirloom seeds for my garden: seedsavers.org

I worked with a team of scientists that developed a method to mass-produce the anti-cancer compound paclitaxel using plant cell culture. This was later marketed as "Taxol". Photo is the compound crystalizing as I purified a sample for our CEO to take to a meeting with the NCI. Exciting work!

Experimenting with drizzling and splattering watercolor paint on paper, then filling in with brushes. Results are often dream or nightmare like. This one came about after re-reading the terrifying non-fiction book about mass extinction, "Under a Green Sky" by Peter Ward

My home office where I teach piano, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, Appalachian dulcimer, autoharp, and ukulele.

I haven't been posting much lately because I've been completing the application process for the PACT Act. I encourage US military veterans who might have been exposed to toxic substances to look into this before the Department of Greed and Evil dismantles the program. www.va.gov/resources/th...

Introductory pet post: My boy, Dash, always sits down to eat his meals. A beautiful cavachon who lights up the house on these dreary winter days.

My first post on Bluesky. Although I'm retired from biotech, I keep busy teaching music, writing fiction and poetry, painting, and gardening here in the beautiful Fingerlakes region of central New York State.
