Ask a person who cannot afford shelter what they preferred to be called. We use language to be respectful, and it demonstrates that we’re thinking of other people beyond our own experiences. You may continue to use whatever language you want, but that’s the cool thing about language. It can change.

Right, but interviews get transcribed for those who are hearing impaired. So it could be due to that, as well as censorship where those interviews are aired.

These words are used to prevent bots / censors from finding them. Much like "seggs" is used for "Sex", etc. It's not elitist. It's strategic.
