Normally, every media outlet in the US would be calling for his resignation, but now, they would feel silly. Today, it is out of question any kind of accoutability for a Republican. The guy mocked the dead who were just killed by someone ideologically aligned with him. This low is the new normal.

I simply don't understand the line of thought that lead you to a conclusion that this is an "admission." This is an answer to a completely misguided Trump conception that US film industry has import deficits, which they don't. Hollywood still is, by a wide margin, the biggest movie exporter.

No, because Trump has threatened to put tariffs on film imports, and that's Newson resonable answer to him, to which the most irascible, irrational, and reactionary leftists are calling him a "fascist." For a tax incentive propostion....

Tankies are just as stupid as reactionaries. To call a dem a "fascist" for proposing tax credits for a sector of the economy is not even among the top 10 imbecile things that I've seen tankies say this week. It's like you haven't cause enough damage, you just keep going.
