I suspect Angus Taylor is already sizing up Peter Dutton's office...

It's a sad indictment on the electorate, but Albanese should be hoping the discourse around Welcome to Country fades. Dutton is appealing to the worst inclinations of Australians, because he knows its fertile ground. If Labor is smart, they won't give it any more wind.

Pope Francis seemed like a reasonable person, I'm just confused why we're compelled to celebrate a pope for the fact he had the same standard of morality and humility we would expect from our friends. Is this how low our expectations are from the religiously devout,?

I wonder if Albanese strategically waited for Trump to be sworn in before calling an election? If so... it was genius.

The defining question when future historians debate this era will be whether Trump was the cause of America's decline, or the inevitable result of it.

At this point, the USA is basically the "O'Doyle Rules" family from Bill Maddison

One of the most challenging aspects of the historical moment we've found ourselves in is somehow understanding the psychology of any person who looks at Trump and fails to immediately see the objectionable character that most of the world cannot look past. (Excerpt from Stephen Kotkin)

There is absolutely no doubt whose side this administration is on... and it's not ours.

AI is not taking over any time soon...

Zelensky refused to leave Kyiv while the Russian army was on the outskirts of the city, and credible reports had been received that he was to be executed on sight. Trump and Vance thought they could intimidate him.

Hmm... I wonder if there's a reason these specific nations spend so much more on their military... ...probably nothing.

Keith Kellog will be the first to get fired.

What's happening in the Congo? Here's the TL:DR

Trump just announced that two million Palestinians will be forcibly removed from Gaza, and added: "The U.S. will take over the Gaza strip ... create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area." ...it's about money. His money.

What does Trump's economic warfare mean for Australia?

Let's unpack 30years of Australian Government policy to understand how we got here...

Logged onto my alt Rugby Twitter profile, one that I kept exclusively for Rugby content. It was my retreat from politics, and unfortunately most Rugby accounts aren't here yet. This was the first post on my feed... a paid ad no less. Fuck I hate Musk so much.

Their God created this hell, whether you believe in him or not.

Can't see any issues with the Chinese Government controlling an AI model...

Trump is forcing the World to turn to China... If Xi is smart, he will resist his nationalistic impulses towards Taiwan and the Philippines and present a viable and moderate option for democracies seeking new leadership.

Just so we're clear, there's infinitely more evidence that Musk is a Nazi than anyone in the Ukrainian Government.

Everyone hates their performance review meetings.

Just once, I'd love to hear Trump or Musk speak about an authoritarian dictator with the same vitriolic contempt that they use for the democratically elected leaders of NATO allies.

@realcarrickryan.bsky.social wrote a thing on Facebook and I think it’s too important not to share “Elon Musk is many things, but he isn't an idiot. He also spreads a lot of disinformation through his social media platform that is so easily found to be false….” www.facebook.com/share/1A4b4C...

The Australian Government spent a total of $550million to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the First World War. Spending $450,000 to celebrate 60,000 years of history is not a big price to pay.

Whatever your thoughts on Labor's joke, if you use your wife as a political crutch for an orchestrated PR campaign, you can't then recoil in horror when that same PR campaign becomes a point of attack for your political opponents.

My reflections on 2024...

Riddle me this... Is it possible to oppose the US's "regime change" in Iraq in 2003, ...and, at the same time, criticise the US for not doing more to remove Assad?

Let us never forget that when the Syrian people fled a hell on Earth that most of us couldn't concoct in our worst nightmares... their desperation became political capital. The most desperate people in the World were made into a fear campaign...

Incredible story... the World hasn't realised yet quite how bad things have been under Assad.

I spent a lot of my former life reading and listening to the ideological views of Jihadists. Abu Mohammad al-Julani is probably the most reasonable Jihadi leader I've ever heard. He might be lying, he might just be good at PR... or he might be a tolerable fundamentalist (if that exists).

I decided to try and get across this drone story in NJ. Searched X and all the first tweets that came up were fake videos claiming to be exclusive footage or wild conspiracy takes, nothing reliable. Came here found a useful and reliable explainer straight away from someone I trusted...

This is Syrian pro-democracy activist Mazen al-Hamada speaking after he escaped Syria in 2012. In 2020, he was tricked into believing it was safe for him to return home so he could visit his family. His tortured body has just been found in the infamous Sednaya Prison.
