We yearn for the good times, the Before Times heralding the advent of the Great Corona, of 2014-2019

Your city’s housing crisis is a policy choice that your leaders are free to stop making at any time.

Cuomo will be the parking mayor. If you want a city that's pleasant, livable and safe do not rank him. There are lots of good choices, including Brad Lander who has both a plan and the will to expand open streets and equitable access to quality public space.

Cyclists don’t need to because they do so little wear and tear to streets. Cars do literally thousands upon thousands of times more damage than a bike. Not even kidding, it’s like 160,000 times more damage. If we pay proportional to damage then I’m owed a substantial refund!

Urbanists love to celebrate Austin's building as decreasing its rental burden, but there's been a rise in homelessness. Are wages not increasing sufficiently to prevent lapsing into being without legal title to shelter?

Trump’s War on Christmas

On my own visits to Europe, I was surprised by the smaller cars that American manufacturers seemingly saved for the European markets with the goal of never selling them to the American one lmao

"Not only are these zoning codes onerous, but they are also highly fragmented, with a distinct zoning jurisdiction for every 20,000 residents on average. In a complicated, piecemeal fashion, they cover nearly the entire state"

Happy #EarthDay from OPEIU! 🌎

The cameras are staying on.

Yooooooooo

I make this point all semester long to students, with photo & aerial map receipts. We are NOT lacking for land in and near existing cities and towns. Even our biggest cities (like SF, Dallas etc) have a TON of 1- and 2-storey land uses, let alone the seas of surface parking. *That* is inefficiency!

hell yes. can't wait to start chucking these into the ocean

Spring in Brooklyn and all the thigh tattoos are in bloom

I went shopping in Williamsburg today, and it’s amazing how so many of the stores have second floors, but none have elevators. The ADA allows this if there’s no more than 3,000 sq. ft. per story – you can’t legislate accessibility into existence if elevators are not affordable and space-efficient!

"Do I look like I know hwat a 'Syrah-Zinfandel blend' is?!"

Ciao bello

Whole lotta folks in the White House and adjacent to Trump probably getting very rich from buying and selling stocks right around the on-again-off-again tariff announcements. We'll probably never understand the full extent of the insider trading going on right now.

A History of the USA: The First Republic (1776 - 1861) The Union (1861 - 1877*1) The Second Republic (1877 - 1965*2) The Third Republic (1965 - present) The Fourth Republic must finish the promise of Reconstruction. *1: end of Reconstruction *2: passage of the Voting Rights Act

Happy Union Day. We should have finished Reconstruction. We still can.

There are around other 6.7 billion human beings who do not reside within the borders of the polity called "The United States of America". Hell, I consider them part of my empathetic circle. Our problem is a few hundred people in Washington DC!

Economist Peter Schiff: “The crash that's now happening in the bond market has more dire implications than…the stock market. If these tariffs remain in place, the US could have a full-blown financial crisis by the fall that makes the 2008 Financial Crisis look like a Sunday school picnic.”

Why? The Temple must be rebuilt in its third iteration so that Jesus Christ may return in glory. This is the end goal of Christian Zionists. The Nazarene wont return nevertheless apocalypse will rain down from the heavens as the Children of Abraham fight their last war.

Of course, I appreciate cinema

It was a great movie to see once at the movie theatre and never again.

Never sell in a downturn ;)

“Sin stocks” (tobacco, alcohol, entertainment) can provide reliable returns for many years. A dollar invested in Phillip Morris (tobacco) in 1900 generated a return every single year.

Well, *that* child wont do proletarian manual labor as befits his status as a child of an executive of a nuclear powerplant company. *Other* people will be working with their hands tho!

It’s actually not better late than never when MILLIONS of people are dead from COVID and genocide directly caused by journalists like this. Fuck them for being so goddamn stupid.
