Loved the stories a Departmental staffer told me about a Minister's dogsbody almost being caught by security trying to smuggle large amounts of booze down to their boss' office and no they had no idea whose box of champagne that was...

Know there are some pretty dungeon-esque spaces under Parliament House and the Old Treasury Building in Melbourne. Would not be shocked.

Avoiding a duly constituted parliamentary enquiry? That's a macin'. Disturbing the dignity of the chamber with your hootin' and hollerin'? That's a macin'. Publishing scurrilous gossip about my involvement in an immigration racket? You better believe that's a macin'.

Remember, Crypto was going to be part of our everyday lives, BAYC was the future of finance, we will all live in the Metaverse...
To say "well, there's something useful there" is like demanding that patent medicines and crystals be treated as having a grain of truth in them, grift notwithstanding.

I'm planning a diet.
It involves subtracting the weight of the salad I eat from the weight of the chocolate I eat.
Because the salad displaces chocolate I otherwise would've eaten.
If, some days, I eat more salad than chocolate, then I will claim I have actually eaten net negative chocolate.

Think Gillard shot her shot in implementing the promise of Rudd with her own modifications, knowing soon after 2010 that Labor wasn't going to escape punishment, and that the internal ructions wouldn't be ironed out whilst the party was still in Government.

I'd even take a Gillard-level careful implementer of far-reaching moderately-progressive change that makes life better for everyday people.
Instead we have someone who is convinced that their chief role is winning elections and avoiding controversy, with everything secondary to that objective.

The story for over 40 years, sadly.

I mean, Pesutto is starting look moderately competent, just by comparison.

Again, see most of modern Labor as corporatist, seeing every interest group as an essential part of the overall scheme of society. This, unfortunately, leads them to value self-interested dickheads as having a valuable role to play...

Yep.
Love the idea of a public mandate, but it's a long way from being an actual prod as opposed to intensive lobbying or internal focus groups from the Western Suburbs of Sydney.

Did a Centrelink course in my late teens where touch-typing was taught and my god has it set me up for the rest of my life.
