Aspiring fantasy novelist. Hate Nazis. Liberal democracy is the worst system of government that has ever been tried, except for all the others. Suffering NY Giants fan. Brimstone main but I can't really aim.

The real message isn't even "You are right about this specific thing and that one." It's that if you're on the far right, your every thought will be coddled and indulged, and you don't need to undertake the tiresome process of being coherent. You're always right, always triumphant, always smug.

There's not even any effort to ensure these hallucinations are coherent. Violence towards Democrats is simultaneously necessary - but also, when it happens, only ever conducted by the left. Why? Because the goal here is just validating every last whim of the far right, not consistency.

You can be a Burkean conservative, or market liberal, or Christian democrat, or many other right-of-center ideologies whose central premises are not bloodlust and extermination. But if your role models are Yarvin or Bannon and their crusty dog-eared copies of Schmitt, violence is the thing itself.

Kidding aside, I feel like I've threaded the needle well where the church is largely well-intentioned and the god in question *means* well, it just turns out that gods ascended from mortals are kinda flawed

yeah I addressed that already there is, at most, heavily conflicting evidence on this and you do not know if going further to the left to pick up votes might have cost even more votes

"If Kamala had backed a weapons embargo, SHE would be president. " You have literally no evidence of this claim other than you would really like it to be true I would like you and yours to stop enabling fascism, that's all

yes but if the church is not evil then I cannot have my characters fight god at the end, and since my story is heavily based on classic JRPGs like final fantasy they must fight god at the end QED

It is taken as an article of faith in online leftist communities that Harris blew an easy layup election by not being progressive enough. Maybe that's true. But you literally don't know that - nobody does - and it clashes majorly with available data at hand, so...

Maybe? Without the ability to view parallel realities where different things happened, impossible to say one way or another. Maybe blunting the rightward swing helped us hold onto Senate seats in places like Nevada. Maybe she should have done more & gone further center. We literally dont know!

Look, I get it. If what liberals are saying is true and Trump and his movement really are uniquely bad and devastating to the world, then your masturbatory inaction in the 2024 election - or casual helping of Trump by shitting on Dems - would have been Very Bad. You can't accept that. So you deny.

500,000 *children*. Lots of non-children. The actual answer is 6 million, which is 6x the absolute highest estimate of deaths from the Iraq war www.democracynow.org/2025/2/10/he...

anyway, speaking of shit, your point is shit your duty as a citizen in a democracy is to choose the viable candidate who will do most good and least harm anything else is just jerking off in the polling booth, regardless of your thoughts of the relative quality of the candidates

I don't give a shit whether or not you're enthuaistic about it* as long as you fucking do it * If you spend the entire election cycle shitting on them and then begrudgingly pull the lever yourself, regardless of how much damage you've done in the process, you're still just helping the fascists

Also I don't think that last point of yours is a given. Polling is, shall we say, very mixed. Other data suggests she lost because of *moderate* voters who stayed home, not progressives.

I don't think you wind up a Senator, much less a candidate for president, without being an egotistical monster? But we're not talking about her. We're talking about us, the voters, and the values we demonstrate by our actions

That is not a hypothetical. That is an extrapolation based on known data, e.g., the number of lives currently being impacted by programs like PEPFAR. Those are different things.

Yeah, they're willing to put the greater good over their personal warm fuzzies, aka they have a conscience? If you *weren't* willing to put aside your own personal feelings for the sake of all who would now die under Trump but would have lived under Harris, you're kinda an egotistical monster
comment in response to post
We are not talking hypotheticals. We are talking about evaluating the two real presidencies of two real human beings in the real world. Gutting USAID and ending PEPFAR will mean that by the end of Trump's second terms, the blood on his hands will make W's look like a little stain in comparison

also a suspect list since the very first person on it is no longer in congress

Kinzinger is famously no longer in congress

like sorry I simply do not fucking believe your assertion that most people who actually show up to protest aren’t willing to identify themselves as liberals or Democrats (even if they’re really pissed off at Democrat leadership right now, as I imagine most are)

yeah, I know, I'm just saying that's basically all they got
