(that man is his late fourties at the YOUNGEST, that is not a twink. also the red valley boys are not sexy hunks. they look boring and average and have acne scars and bad haircuts and don't know how to dress, thank you very much)

i think fanon is so interesting as a phenomenon, how ppl agree on something as a community... (and also idk if i've ever agreed with a single one, like cecil from night vale is the worst example of this man they truly massacred my boy)

This comment (and ensuing discussion) are really good in particular. I think everyone here has a point (with the third comment aligning more or less with how I see things), but the fascinating part for me is that the more visibility the general public has with AI, the worse its reputation becomes

now i think of it, nothing usually goes wrong but i'm always afraid it will. a big theme with my bike maintenance adventures is that i always think i won't know how to do something or won't be able to learn from a google only to come to realize that uhhh yeah i do and i can

i really really wanna get down to the squeal in my back brakes (that got way worse the couple days the front brakes were out of commission) but it's a drum brake that i've never opened and i really think i should do that at the bike kitchen in case something goes wrong 😭🙏

in finnish they're called tiira because of the sound they make "tiiii-ra tiiii-ra"

these guys have a crazy goofy-on-land vs graceful-in-flight ratio... the wings are Stunning when spread out (sorry for the spam lmao it's exciting to see you posting nature photos of stuff i'm actually familiar with as a finn...! :>)

oh oh terns are so beautiful in flight!! watching a tern fish is so exciting, sometimes they flap in place like a giant hummingbird :> last year i saw one fight a seagull twice its size that was coming for its nest and it was nuts to see how much more agile it was in flight, zipping around the gull

the mobility aid realization was so crucial, like so much of why i love the bike so much is just that it's a way for me to move my body and get around places that doesn't lead to horrible pain, unlike walking
comment in response to
post
i realized that my bike is basically a mobility aid, it allows me to move around with minimal pain, and if i could get it to not hurt at all that'd be like a huge huge huge improvement. part of why i'm so exhausted has to be that i'm in pain 24/7 and if i can do something to make it better, i should

i'm gonna buy a new bike seat next month if it kills me. the one i wanna try is 50€. which is a lot but also not a lot at all. i'm tired of riding the pussy destroyer 3000 every day. i need a more ergonomic solution. i can eat oatmeal for a few days if that's what i gotta do for a comfortable seat

goslings are so fun to see bc there's usually multiple families hanging out together and the lil guys are different ages, it's really cool to see them at different stages of development :>

i've also played some rpg-y 10 hour board games that had some combat but the focus was more survival horror and the combat was really limited that were super fun so i'm also looking for ttrpgs with that kinda vibe if you know any, no worries if not!
comment in response to

like all the fun bits require me to actively work around or fight against the way the game is designed to be played so like...not worth it lmao. if you have any suggestions for looser, more exploration based games where the characters get to like hang out and vibe, i'd be interested to hear 👀👀

playing dnd was rly like every time i wanted to do something that was like genuinely engaging and fun for me i had to like discuss with the gm on how we would be able to make that happen within the system and she was rly cool about bending the rules etc but it was still like - like pulling teeth lol
comment in response to

ANYWAY i hope i get my friends to try out some of those 500 000 indie games that i have the pdfs for sometime and maybe we can move from there
comment in response to
post
i've also always thought that i think i'd like gm'ing more than i like playing bc character creation is kinda boring to me and thinking of story beats and worldbuilding wld be a lot more fun...but i don't have enough experience with game systems to feel confident doing that
comment in response to
post
i thought my gripe with dnd would be the setting but a few years back i played a oneshot that my friend wrote that happened in like a cheesy 80s action film GI joe action figure type world, which is also a setting i'm not interested in but it was a lot looser and a ton of fun, so not a setting issue
comment in response to
post
yeah i've had some genuinely super fun ttrpg experiences that were more focused on like exploring a space and goofing around and didn't take literal hours of prep just to get the character made 😅 so i do have some fun experiences too luckily 🙏

also it was rly exhausting to be engaged and engaging and like funny for six hours straight, i'm like crashing real bad from all the social energy that i spent on that. i feel kinda terrible kinda like shit actually. i did have fun but at what cost
comment in response to
post
anyway lol i like improv and i really don't like forced combat or complicated math. and i'd rather do improv without the forced combat or complicated math. and i do wanna play more ttrpgs but man, this was not it

bc that's like the stuff that i am interested in. stuff where i have more options to engage with the world than 'hit with sword'. i hate videogames that focus on combat too like that shit is not fun to me at all, action scenes in movies, etc, like it's just so very boring. so ofc dnd is boring to me
