i can definitely solder to it (although its like smt and the pad pitch is very tiny.. AND im not very good at soldering), just need a really low-profile connection to it because there's a heatsink over it that i would rather not remove

maybe depends on the implementation of your 32-bit register (i assume you mean like, this is an MMIO register and writes have to be ordered). easy to imagine case where the mmio impl. and bus do not coalesce your writes
