Ah, so they checked your eyes and peered into your soul, and found it to be blackened by evil misdeeds, such as "knowing things" and "sharing that knowledge". Such a wayward human could not sail the seven seas, or put your mind at ease! Can't protect the motherland, lend a hand, or take a stand!

They're acting like their job is just clicking "I Accept" on the EULA for a Gmail account. "How am I expected to know what is in that wall of text?" It's their job to know that, of course. It's nauseating.

Oh, but if you called me I'd have a panic attack, so if you do call, I apologize for not answering and letting Google handle the call

You're correct and appropriate. They are wrong, rude, and obnoxious. I've blocked them.

we will be poorer, sicker, and more ignorant of the world. which is the point, I guess

But in the meantime the Senate will pass some terrible bill that screws most of the people in the country, and nobody will be paying any attention. Which is the whole point.

They do the equivalent of someone telling a doctor to not look for signs of sepsis because letting the patient suffer and die is better than exposing the hospital to more liability. Seriously, fuck every single one of those mofos, if you know what mean.

Sorry, it was more just an excuse for me to be snarky about lawyers that I hate. I probably should stick with therapy.

Par for the course for these cynical shitbags. My level of PTSD from multiple rounds with super expensive outside counsel has put me in therapy and on multiple meds for the rest of my life.
comment in response to post
Lol, outside counsel "thinking"... As far as I've seen, that's expecting a bit too much

Since someone shared this with me, and I had been thinking about the contrast between Jon's humanity and the lack thereof shown by Noem, and how one's approach to pet ownership really is indicative of who they are as a human, here's something I think is very special: m.youtube.com/shorts/0mZsd...

Twitter is now running ads that are paid for advocating for shooting protesters if you were wondering how the descent into fascism is going this evening.

Important to note that this doesn't mean all judges are like that, but the role is more likely to attract people like that, just as assholes want to be bosses, but not all bosses are assholes. (I try to not be an asshole boss, but it's a struggle sometimes when the systems seem to expect/demand it)
comment in response to post
Came here to say basically this. The structures of systems create incentives. Roles that provide power over others attract those who want that. The more power, over more people, the more megalomaniacs will want that role.

But to be effective, we have to engage with the world as it is and not as we want it to be.

But that's exactly how I feel about (most) television right now. I can handle TikTok, but longer form video and pretty much all podcasts are so extraordinarily tedious. I just don't understand the popularity even given differences in baseline knowledge, comprehension ability, and attention spans.

And people are saying bluesky doesn't have a diversity of viewpoints! I only bring a DSLR with five or six lenses.

Always this kind of energy from reporters at protests:

It's pretty bad, but any of the cars that murderers have driven into parades and protests would be pretty damn evil also.

I'm guesing no licence. And I doubt he can drive well, especially when "everything is computer"

The caption does use the plural "protestors", so there must be some additional invisible protestors standing with that person. Maybe they're wearing cloaks of invisibility, and that person's cloak just fell off as he raised his arms. That's it. Perfectly reasonable explanation.

I've been to Atlanta and have wondered the same about almost everyone there.

It's more fun to be Slim Pickens, riding the bomb to oblivion, than to do actual work that might help. But I get it, I'm depressed, I'm anxious, and I'm very very tired. Lots of bad has happened that can't be undone, and more bad will happen before things can head in a better direction.

Well, a different kind of drama, but there's still drama, and maybe higher quality drama. Less UFC and more grappling. Less Universal Studios theme park stunt show and more Requiem for a Heavyweight.
