What happened yesterday to Senator Padilla is a dangerous backslide for American Democracy. If this is what the Trump Administration is willing to do to a U.S. Senator with cameras rolling — they’re unafraid to do it to our mothers, our brothers, and our children when the cameras are off.

It’s my absolute pleasure to introduce you all to Michelle, our Congressional Art Competition winner from Oakland. Her piece “Three Queens, Three Journeys” is now hanging in the United States Capitol amongst other talented young artists from across the nation.

Netanyahu’s strikes into Iran risk provoking a wider war and pulling in the United States. As a Member committed to peace, I urge the President to oppose a dangerous and unnecessary escalation of violence and prioritize a diplomatic path to deal with Iran's nuclear program.

Yesterday, I met with Cruz Hernandez and his family to talk about his time as a patient at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and the importance of Medicaid.

Yesterday, @tokuda.house.gov, @pelosi.house.gov, CEC Chair @repmarktakano.bsky.social, & @replsimon.bsky.social led 66 other Members of Congress in demanding Secretary Hegseth rescind the decision to rename the USNS Harvey Milk. More at the link in our bio.

The physical force used against @padilla.senate.gov as he exercised his right to free speech today in LA is absolutely appalling.   I stand with Senator Padilla and the people of California as we fight this administration’s repeated abuses of power.

President Trump's rescissions package will make permanent funding cuts to foreign assistance, public radio, violence prevention programs, and more.   I am here to fight for working people and our most vulnerable communities, not give kickbacks to the wealthiest among us.

Last week I met with Dr. Victor Pineda and the Center for Independent Living to talk about the importance of policies that advance accessibility and how the Medicaid cuts in the reconciliation bill will hurt people with disabilities.

Make sure to tune into tomorrows Oversight hearing at 10AM ET to catch @oversightdemocrats.house.gov and I talking to governors from across the nation about what they’re seeing in their communities in the face of the Trump administration’s mass deportations. www.youtube.com/live/NupsVDX...

"When you write legislation that cuts into the flesh of the working poor, you cannot call it policy.”   Republicans’ big cruel bill is not policy, it is an affront to the people that our government was built to uplift.

I joined my CA and Tri-caucus colleagues yesterday to make two things clear:   1. I am fighting for, and will always stand with, our immigrant communities as they peacefully exercise their right to protest.

Donald Trump is purposefully creating danger by sending Marines into LA, calling for the arrest of Governor Newsom, and taking control of the CA National Guard to suppress protest. It is purposefully inflammatory and unnecessary -- Trump needs to stop the escalation.

📢NEW LETTER: @reprileyny.bsky.social and @replsimon.bsky.social and 16 other Freshman Dems just stepped up with a clear message: we need a new trade policy—one that supports working people, protects the environment, and reins in corporate power.

Antisemitism is like a poison, and like racism and islamophobia -- it spreads fear and makes us ALL less safe.  We must honestly address antisemitism and commit ourselves to ridding our country of this hate, and this partisan resolution undermines that goal.

My office is here to help with immigration casework for constituents with open immigration cases. Make sure you, your family, and neighbors know your rights in the event of an encounter with an ICE agent or another immigration enforcement agency. More info here: simon.house.gov/services/imm...

The President's attempt to try and take control of California's National Guard to deploy 2,000 troops is reckless and dangerous. He's sowing unrest and chaos -- and trying to distract from the fact that people have basic rights to counsel and due process. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/06...

Excited to announce over $91 MILLION in federal funding for scientific research, infrastructure, and climate resiliency projects in the East Bay.

SEIU President David Huerta was injured & arrested today for simply exercising his first amendment right during an ICE raid in LA. How Huerta was treated is horrific and the increased terrorization of immigrant communities is unacceptable. I join SEIU CA in calling for Huerta’s immediate release.

Eid Mubarak! Wishing a joyful Eid to all who celebrate. May this Eid bring you and your loved ones peace, hope, and strength.

June is Gun Violence Prevention Month - meanwhile the Trump Administration is cutting funding for gun violence prevention and interruption work for groups like Youth Alive in Oakland. Make it make sense. I spoke on the House floor this morning about how we can’t stop this critical work now.

Trump sent a recessions package to Congress trying to claw back over $1 billion in already approved funding for public radio and NPR. I grew up in Youth Radio in the Bay, my late husband was a journalist - non-partisan public radio is critical for both rural and urban communities across the U.S.

I joined my CAPAC colleagues in demanding more answers from Secretary of State Rubio on his plans to revoke visas for Chinese students. Many individuals come to the U.S. seeking better opportunties and become rich contributors to their communities - we should not demonize this.

The Republican Budget Reconciliation Bill will add $2.4 trillion to the deficit AND leave 10.9 million people uninsured in 2034. apnews.com/article/cbo-...

🚨 Tonight the House of Representatives UNANIMOUSLY passed my bill - the “ThinkDIFFERENTLY About Disability Employment Act.” I spoke on the House Floor about my bill, and how I came to Congress to bring more people to the policy-making table.

I am deeply saddened by the horrific attack in Boulder. We must do everything as a nation and in our local communities to condemn this hate and commit to building a nation where no one has to pray in fear or walk in silence.

This week, I visited three amazing, innovative, next-generation technology companies based right here at home in CA-12.

So few people who make laws for the poor, have been poor. I testified against the Republican reconciliation bill last week. Republicans are pushing harsh work requirements— but not creating the infrastructure for good jobs with sustainable LIVING wages or health care. Make it make sense!

Proud to be represented by the one and only Congresswoman @replsimon.bsky.social , and she tore it up last night at the #berkeley town hall! And thanks to all the staff - federal, state, and local - for doing the Lord’s work!

Berkeley Town Hall Energy! See you in 30 minutes for our town hall. Grab some community resources and a question sheet on your way in!

Upcoming town halls! 📍Berkeley! See you tonight at 7PM PT at the Ed Roberts Campus for the next stop on the CA-12 town hall tour. Doors at 6:30. 📍Emeryville! See you Thursday at 6PM PT at the Emeryville Senior Center. Doors at 5:30!

This Memorial Day, we honor and mourn the service members who made the ultimate sacrifice, giving up their lives for our freedom. Their service, sacrifice, and bravery will never be forgotten.

We’ve lost a giant. Congressman Charles Rangel was a war hero, a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, and a fearless champion for justice. He fought for the poor, stood tall for Harlem, and shaped the conscience of Congress. May we honor his legacy in how we serve. Rest in power.

Today marks five years since George Floyd's death. Floyd's unjust killing sparked a global uprising that led to police reform agreements and needed conversations about unconstitutional policing and civil rights violations. We cannot forgot Floyd's life and must continue the push towards justice.

Five years ago, the murder of George Floyd sparked a global uprising. As calls grow to pardon his killer, the fight for justice and accountability must continue. www.politico.com/newsletters/...
