Being a huge admirer of the book, I'm very happy to learn this. And the TV version is indeed brilliant.

"You see, the 'Brandy' part is based on my first name, and the 'Bongos' part is because a tall muscular friend often greets me by playing my shoulder blades as if they were a pair of bongo drums. ... No- why would that be a euphemism?"

Enid Blyton went a bit blue the end, eh?

The BBC cut a lot of the mouth stuff and cut down the exploding head, IIRC.

It's also impacted by the fact it's meant to be a sequel to Conspiracy (but it was cheaper to make the Borg cybernetic rather than insectoid) and Time Squared (but they weren't allowed to serialise episodes).

The pink dye was hard to source and made the flags more expensive. Once pink was removed, Baker removed aqua to ensure the flag was evenly symmetrical.

If doing it likely means failure and not doing it definitely means failure, the only possible path to success is doing it. Even if you do fail, you know there wasn't another way.

I got halfway through this and thought, "What's wrong with watching someone playing Mario Kart on Twitch?" And then I got to the end and remembered that on most Australian reality shows, most of the credits are on a PDF on the website.

There is a school of thought that any transporter travel creates a whole new version of the person, especially when it’s confirmed that replicators use the same technology.

When a gif works as a reaction to this and also the next line.

There’s even that comic where Logan discovers Frank’s ‘physique’ mags.

I’m rereading The Machine Stops right now. So brilliant, so prescient.

Christopher Eccleston with a faux posh accent? I never knew I need that and I am very concerned.

I've bought Shogi! Haven't played it!

Ooooh, thanks! Watched that a while ago and found it very good. Definitely in the spirit of pushing production values to their absolute limit, and slightly beyond.

And good luck for today Dear!

I've been re-reading The Machine Stops on my commutes this week. Excellent, prescient, and I wanna do a stage adaptation.

Doctor Who scriptwriter/editor Christopher Hamilton Bidmead once described @flightthroughentirety.com as "the ramblingest Doctor Who podcast" he'd ever heard. I was pleased just to be noticed. He later appeared on New To Who, making a cup of tea.

They would really like to know where the Latin Choral singing is coming from.

"NO KINGS!" "OK, I get that, but- what about a whole chamber of unelected out-of-touch fogeys, appointed for life, who outnumber elected members? Would that be OK?"

The Highlanders has a very funny script and a highly experienced director, so I reckon that would be another hidden gem if found.

I have been told off on not picking on flirting, and indeed not recognising the flirter (whom I had met several times) because he’d shaved and was wearing glasses. And that’s why I get the Clark Kent/Superman thing.

As a professional short person, politely tapping a tall person on the shoulder and asking them to move half a foot laterally usually works. Once they’ve looked down to see me, of course.

Watching the zombie movie with flesh rending and decomposing bodies is fine family viewing, but penises?! Absolutely not. And make Donald Duck wear some pants while we're at it.

Something I find extraordinary is that Thunderbirds are Go basically had this guy as a recurring character (voiced by Jack Whitehall) who gets in trouble with his self-made submarine. thunderbirds.fandom.com/wiki/Francoi...

Good to know the HH set isn’t worth getting though.

They did revise the fucked up set- I have the good version. But I don’t any of the Dave series physically, so my sister may be getting my 1-8 set for Christmas…
