Images of tanks pulling up for a huge PARADE that NO ONE asked for that will cost money & take military personnel away from more important things at a time when Americans are being told we don’t have money for food & healthcare seems wild to me.

It's scheduled for his birthday lmao

looks like an objective assessment to me

The weird, often whitewashed way the civil rights movement is taught (or not taught) seemed to convince a lot of people that nonviolence was met with nonviolence, instead of you know, dogs, hoses, beatings, death, etc

One argument I tried to make to centrist, right-leaning folks during 2024 was that if you really hate street protest and unrest and chaos, then you should absolutely not vote for Donald Trump, because he 100% guarantees more.

Where is the lie?

kind of just endlessly sad and grieving that there are so few voices in the public sphere making the basic principled argument that immigration is an affirmative good in every way and the best way for this country to serve humanity is to welcome people who want or need to leave their homes

I rewatched Dogma for the first time in a long, long time about 6 months ago and it’s just so good still.

“Defund the police” was in fact a great slogan.

If lawyers for the government represented in court that the government lacked the ability to get him back, the federal court has the power to get answers about whether those representations were false. I believe it should do so vigorously.

The GOP broke the law to deport this man—then decided to indict him. Court order? Ignored. Due process? Tossed. Now they want credit for “law and order”? Chile, please. Y’all did the process completely backwards. This is Trump’s America: lawless, reckless, and cruel.

these people keep forgetting that part of the reason LEOs are typically uniformed is because if you see some masked goon in street clothes ziptying your neighbor and shoving them in a van, you are within your rights to intervene

Your bill is going to cut coverage for 11 million Americans and it’ll still cost more than universal healthcare. Healthcare is a human right, you absolute ghouls.

It doesn't seem like she understands the definition of "ethnostate," because "has a homogenous population" is not the same as "determines rights or citizenship by ethnicity" bsky.app/profile/lowr...

This should not controversial, but somehow it is. I believe EVERYONE deserves healthcare, no matter who you are, what you do, or where you were born.

In 1936, FDR closed out his re-election campaign by bragging to a massive crowd at Madison Square Garden that “organized money” hated him “and I welcome their hatred.” He took 60% of the vote in a 523-8 electoral college landslide. FDR knew having the right enemies could be a useful thing.

ATTACK THEM ON EVERY FUCKING THING. EVERY TIME. EVERY DAY. RUIN THEIR MISERABLE LIVES. SHAME THEIR SUPPORTERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. MAKE YOUR SUPPORTERS ASHAMED TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THEM. You don’t even mention that he’s a rapist pedophile, why the fuck not? What’s wrong with you?

Elon threatening to just leave people on the ISS is making a pretty good case for why you nationalize your space program!

The straightest thing you can do as a man is to think a lot about two other guys' balls.

I say this a lot but we are all so lucky this generation of fascists came of age on message boards and not stabbing people to death at close range in a trench while the world detonates endlessly around them

Between 1989 and 2023, the Family Circus ran this same panel three times, but just kept drastically increasing the price of a visit to the doctor. I think this is inadvertently a more hard-hitting piece of political commentary than anything you’ll see in Mallard Filmore

The craziest thing about this fight between Trump and Elon Musk is that Republicans are trying to take away health care from 16 million people to pay for tax cuts for billionaires.

It’s a performance in attempt to stop protests and boycotts to salvage his cratering businesses

Strong ‘have you said thank you even once’ energy

One sure sign Trump is losing it is he keeps forgetting he's supposed to pretend he is against the Nazis.

The Democrats should enlist Elon Musk’s wealth by taxing him heavily and using the money to reduce income inequality.

If I were a dem strategist I think I would take figures like this along with the cuts to funding and outright research band and run with the message “republicans are trying to kill you with diseases and they will succeed if you don’t stop them”

Here it is: Musk thinks he is owed a say in Trump’s policy because of how much he spent on the campaign.

DEAN: What's the tariff on bananas? LUTNICK: Generally 10% DEAN: Walmart has already increased the cost of bananas by 8% LUTNICK: If you build in America, there is no tariff DEAN: We cannot build bananas in America

sinking utterly down to the bottom of the sea

“I’m just going to say it, shame on any of us who throws a trans child under the bus for thinking they’re going to get elected. That child deserves our support. Don’t worry about the pollsters calling it distractions, because we need to be the party of human dignity.”

very fun to read frederick douglass accurately describe the problem with the pardon power in 1867

Really enjoying Send A Prayer My Way, the Julien Baker and Torres collaboration album.

i know no one cares about hypocrisy or shamelessness or anything anymore but these people really used to tell us they were scared of an armed govt being turned against americans, they made an entire career out of it

It's not a crackdown on immigration, it's a crackdown on immigrants A lot of people are being kidnapped and sent to unnamed detention facilities or even rendered to some other nation and they didn't even do anything wrong What "enforcement" is actually happening here? I see a lot of bullying.

When a federal judge starts a ruling about the government's actions with an extended retelling of Kafka's "The Trial," you know the state of democracy in the good old US of A is in tip-top shape 🙃

Somehow the "We need to support policies that are popular" crowd never land on the very popular polices like "taxing big corporation more," "making health care more affordable," or "paying teachers more." It's always just "be 10% more racist."

63% of American adults had unfavorable views of Martin Luther King Jr in August 1966, per Gallup surveys 46% of Mississippi GOP voters said interracial marriage should be illegal in a 2011 PPP poll to push w/e is popular instead of trying to popularize justice is to admit you lack moral leadership

Jonathan Joss was Comanche and Apache and an openly gay actor. He was murdered while looking at the remains of his dogs at his own house that was burnt down. The killer yelled homophobic slurs before shooting him. This is the real world consequences of the hatred that the right commodifies

This is the *real* rationing and “death panels.” ‘Merica.

centrist: we need to focus on popular policy me: holy shit! you mean we’re finally going to support universal healthcare? centrist: no haha not that policy me: ok so…gun control? centrist: no lol not that policy either me: ok which policy? centrist: oh you know the ones

Again, these groups are attempting to retcon the 2024 election *we all lived through* to claim Dems overly catered to Big Trans or The Groups or whatever. In fact, Republicans—and via them the media—are the ones who zeroed in on the culture war while we focused on economic issues. We still lost.

RFK Jr. wants to eliminate as many vaccines as he can. Don’t believe him when he claims otherwise and says he just wants better science and safer vaccines He’s lying. His endgame is, for all practical purposes, to eliminate access to vaccines. thehill.com/policy/healt...

Things are going well
