Or you could not drive to the countryside. You could use public transport, or better still make use of Sheffield's excellent parks, woodlands and green spaces. Why fill up every layby, car park and verge in the Peak with cars?

Sheffield’s stripes on #ShowYourStripes Day - a striking visual of our rapidly warming climate 📈 Wherever you are in the world, your stripes will tell the same story. Read more about how graphs are shaping our understanding of the #ClimateCrisis ⬇️ grantham.sheffield.ac.uk/the-graphs-s...

The Clean Air Bill is returning to Parliament! With cross-party support, I will present #EllasLaw in July. Named for Ella Kissi-Debrah, who died from asthma linked to air pollution, Ella's Law will make breathing clean air a human right. @ellarobertafdn.bsky.social www.itv.com/news/2025-06...

This comes from engagement work with teenage girls in a park in York. And you see all those things with two dots by them. Those make up 90%+ of what we currently provide for young people in public space. Whereas the things that girls want - they just aren't there. Let's do better.

Faced with the challenge of retaining his seat despite the addition of thousands of Tory voters from the old Penrith & the Border constituency, you can see why Lib Dem Tim has asked himself: "What would a Tory MP do?" His answer? Build bigger roads. But the evidence base is thin: a quick thread.

✨ Our 2025 programme is now over - thank you all so much for coming along and taking part for another year. It's such a source of hope to see people coming together to explore some of the most important issues we face. See you next year! Photos by Adva Photography 📸

Your enemy isn't traveling by small boat. They're traveling by private jet.

Lots of men of a certain age getting excited about the prospect of the defense spending increases. That it's necessary, if it is, should be a cause of great shame not rejoicing. Soon we'll be Shipbuilding www.youtube.com/watch?v=Res3...

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀? Recent events both personal and professional have had me questioning what the point of the work we do is? I work for a Sustainability Research Centre within a larger University, which by its very nature is involved in work across numerous disciplines and sectors.

Could bio-based #plastic be the unlikely hero in our fight against #ClimateChange? At our last #FoD event Co-Director, Professor Tony Ryan, will challenge common perceptions of plastic & outlines how it can be part of a sustainable future 📅 28 May 🕖 7pm - 8:30pm 🎟️ tinyurl.com/3hyh6rec #Sheffield

Luckily for the refugees fleeing from the wars our grasping at the "Defense Dividend" helps create, Sheffield is a City of Sanctuary.

What's he on about now?? In what I think we can all agree is a deliberately provocative video Tony tries to convince you there is a future where more single use plastic rather than less is the answer.

A very warm welcome to Sheffield city centre and good luck to people going to or from the bus station. 🤞 🤞 🤞

Here it is, finally. The truth. In a landmark #greenwashing legal case brought by @parentsforclimate.bsky.social, #EnergyAustralia has publicly acknowledged that offsets do not undo the harms of burning fossil fuels & apologised to more than 400,000 customers of its carbon #offsetting product

Five minutes of chat on BBC R4 Today programme this morning on how autonomous vehicles are coming by 2027... lots of chat about how to make them publicly acceptable, but no question about *why* we supposedly need them. What problem is this meant to solve, and is it worth all the investment?

Ok - you’ve seen the headlines about the “secretive” government agency planning on “dimming” the sun? Sounds like something out of a Marvel film or a 1960’s James Bond, right? Here’s a 🧵on who the government agency is and what *exactly* it is that they’re funding 1/

Exactly this. Our infrastructure is crumbling because of a lack of capital investment to build it and lack of revenue to maintain it. Real skilled jobs could be created and we would all benefit, rather than this performative, unworkable nonsense.

Wonderful ride around Sheffield city centre in the sunshine today.

The Cycle Sheffield Big Ride with Kidical Mass is this Saturday 17th. A fun event with a serious message: we want safe routes to town, safe routes to schools, safe high streets for all!
