I was going to comment that the US is most likely under reporting. I don't believe that Canada has more cases. We are a fraction of the size of the US population and probably have higher vaccination rates than they do.

I think the slippery slope is becoming an "everything goes" environment for fear of losing some kind of rights. Democracy and civil society only work with rules & laws. I don't see the problem of a law that says no vulgarity within 100 metres of a parliament building, for example.
