OPINION: While tens of thousands protested at Seattle's #NoKings rally, dozens of immigrants were abruptly called to a USCIS office for an in-person check-in with no explanation. Lilly Ana Fowler explains why she skipped the rally to see what happened in #Tukwila. Read here: soseaem.org/3ZWfbiL

I know that some of you live in NYC and have more books than you know what to do with. If you have books that fit the bill as the ones listed below, please donate them to Bluestockings! I am trying to collect 2500 books by 9/1

Reading the new American Bar Association lawsuit against the Trump administration and noticed this. It still boggles my mind that I was literally the only targeted lawyer willing to talk on camera.

Trump claims he's shifting his deportation raids away from farm workers, an admission of how reliant US agriculture is on underpaid migrant laborers. And they're not just underpaid. This work can be deadly -- and those deaths all too often go uninvestigated:

Seattle Public Schools is letting more students into some of the district’s most popular option schools next fall, amid mounting pressure to change how it manages enrollment.

The national media has sent a clear message to protesters that if you (or the police) don't give them a little violence they're not going to cover you no matter how many millions you turn out on the streets.

My more optimistic take on the whole “did the protests do anything” debate is that here is value to showing you are not alone and that a massive number of people are willing to come out and be public even in very far right areas. Organization takes time and a diversity of tactics is a positive.

Amazing how removing constant financial stress lets people focus on family, work, and building a better future.

It's pretty obvious that a lot of US mainstream media either doesn't recognise authoritarianism or doesn't want to call it out. Either way, it's an excellent way to destroy trust in your institution.

Energy matters in politics. It especially matters for Trump. Today, all the energy was with the pro-democracy team. Republicans in Congress should be very worried.

Cops and ICE continue to be the only paid agitators

No Kings in Seattle! Beautiful! #seattle #nokings

Live scene from the Washington Mall for Trump’s parade, via a local NBC4 reporter. Meanwhile, millions are protesting nationally.

If you can't attend the rallies today for whatever reasons, something useful you can do is scour your local news outlets for coverage and share the coverage on social media and pump it out to all of your networks. Amplify what's happening locally so others in your communities are aware.
