Listen to the podcast “Drilled”.

Two thirds of the cars were ICEVs. There is no evidence that the EVs had anything to do with the fire.
comment in response to

ICE were sent into Democratic states deliberately to ensure there would be mass protests. All an excuse to send in the military.

Just restore from last night’s backup then, right? Right?

These people are so disingenuous. Do they dump on every post about some driving a car somewhere? No, it’s only EVs they target. It’s highly suspicious to me.

Walk and chew gum? Frankly your media should be hammering Trump daily on making Canada the 51st state. Make him look like a loser because it’s never going to happen.

Ah well outside the US we all know about the authoritarian kleptocracy, perhaps that’s where the different perspective comes from. We’re all just working out how to keep the world running with an isolated USA. It’s up to you to fix it, but I don’t think Tapper is your enemy.

Well he’s helping the Democrats not make the same mistake again. Plus surely you guys over there can do more than one thing at a time? Why turn on someone doing the right thing?

Sorry I’m not American. I don’t understand what’s wrong with doing some good investigative journalism looking at one of the failures of the party that just lost an election. Seems like a story worth pursuing and a good cautionary tale. Ali doesn’t that make him a good independent journalist?

Errgh no thanks. I don’t want Wilson as my representative. I can’t believe he won it (probably). He is a lightweight with no conviction.

Australia has had a split personality for decades. We align closely with Asia trade-wise, but with the US militarily (although hedge our bets somewhat). I do wish we’d embrace our Asian geography more, as some forward-thinking Prime Ministers of the past have tried to do.

Are you sure Toyota’s releasing 10 new pure electric vehicles? Because the news has been unclear to me.

I think if I was an American I’d be much more pessimistic.

People forget that serious changes to climate will takes decades or centuries. And while we want to do whatever we can now, and can’t undo what’s been done, it’s never too late to minimise damage and mitigate the effects. These defeatists are letting the good get in the way of the great.

WTF? I should have trusted my first instincts. You’re just an arrogant twerp doing his best to further oil industry interests but too dumb to know it. Bye bye.
comment in response to

Yes. On top of that, with V2G, EVs (especially fleets) can contribute to solving grid issues associated with renewables by creating distributed energy storage.

OMG what is wrong with you? Straight into the personal attacks. It’s scary there’s people like you that become angry and aggressive when they’re questioned on their statements. That makes for a very unhealthy society.
comment in response to

That’s a pretty aggressive response. I thought it was just some of your nutter followers that were that aggressive. Why not just address my point?

I get you’re anti-car, but in the real world just one Exxon-Valdez does more damage to the environment than (complete guess) a million batteries. The damage caused by the production and driving of ICE vehicles is far worse.

Lyle didn’t mention congestion at all. He just posted debunked anti-EV oil industry promoted myths.

What’s wrong with EV bikes? People have to get around somehow?
comment in response to

So is that a good thing in your mind or a bad thing? Because people are people right? Helping a country out of poverty is a good thing? Also, Apple are only one company that makes technology!

Oh I can’t be bothered, they’ve been shown to be misinformation so many times.

At no point did I claim you were working for Exxon. I pointed out that your statement is in Exxon’s interest.
comment in response to

You’re going to reduce CO2 a lot faster by converting transport to EVs than you will converting society to bikes and feet.
comment in response to
post
I’m not disagreeing with you. But I see a lot of these comments in EV threads. All they do is help the anti-EV misinformation campaign that is funded by the same people that funded the “No” campaign.
comment in response to

And my Polestar 2 can do 1500kg, the whole EVs can’t tow thing is so dumb.
comment in response to
post
This argument has nothing to do with the rollout of EV charging stations. Do you also pop into threads about petrol stations being built and complain about the number of cars on the road, or is it just EVs?
comment in response to
post
Lyle good job of spreading oil industry propaganda and misinformation. You’re Exxon’s Gold Star Award winner of the day!
comment in response to

Typical BS assumption that an EV starts a fire despite ICE cars being over 100x more likely to catch fire.

How dare the media not report Ryan’s opinions when she was a young doctor! Surely that was critical news!
comment in response to

Which means the tariffs aren’t working. They’re meant to make it too costly to import cars, instead making the high cost of local manufacturing cheaper than the imported cost.

It’s sad that even Apple released a load of AI slop in their last OS release. They used to care about making sure their tech was worthwhile.

Weak. “Is it because of blowback?”… changes the subject. Typical of these pathetic human beings.
comment in response to

That’s seems like end-of-the-line tech to me though, so all other issues will have been already solved before you get there.

The fuel for nearly all utes is tax deductible. It’s much harder to claim home electricity use. I expect even Shark owners tend to use petrol. (Although I have seen a few at public chargers).
comment in response to
post
We don’t have to solve EVERY problem. If we still used jet fuel for planes and nothing else then we’d be fine.
comment in response to
post
So you think Australia should just stop exporting fossil fuels? Those countries will just get them elsewhere. We need to demonstrate how other forms of energy are cheaper and lead by example.
comment in response to
post
No one EVER has said EVs are “the solution”. They are just much better than the existing alternative. Stop making stuff up.

What’s new? American cars have always been uncompetitive worldwide. This is just cementing that position for the next generation.
