And it devastates funding for biomedical and cancer research, so forget about any new medical breakthroughs coming out of the US.

Republicans don’t need a Senate supermajority to pass the budget. They just need a bare majority due to reconciliation.

You realize the army is gonna be there, right?

This is exactly what I’ve been saying! The parallels between Mao’s Cultural Revolution and MAGA are getting stronger and stronger. And that’s not good at all

I totally agree with this. Congress members are there to perform a public service, not to satisfy their own egos. RBG, Dianne Feinstein, and frankly Joe Biden stayed on past their prime and the damage this did the country is enormous. The Democratic Party needs to take a long hard look at this issue

Just another Republican plan to destroy our country’s greatest assets. Destroying scientific research alone is not enough for these people.

Eh, what’s the worst that can happen? Lots of people will die or get long Covid unnecessarily? That just means more money left over for billionaires. Or something like that.

Why? What would the purpose of this be? It’s just sick.

His response is not science. This guy should be nowhere near the NIH. We’re watching the deliberate destruction of American science.

MAGA = Mao. China had their cultural revolution, now we are having ours. Everything intelligent will be attacked. This administration’s only goal is ideological warfare.

That cut to the NIH will cripple biomedical research in this country, and pretty much ensure the future of the biotech and pharmaceutical industries will be in China.

I know, right? And what if we send a mission to the moon only to find it was during a time it wasn’t visible? What a waste!

Imagine having so few principles that you’re willing to spout this nonsense.

Nothing to see here, move along. I mean literally nothing to see because the plane is at the bottom of the ocean.

How is it laughable? Do you have a counter argument or are you just another know-nothing troll?

Nope. There is not nearly enough money in the private sector to replace NIH funding. Where is that funding coming from? Industry? They have to answer to shareholders who have no desire to spend profits on long term research that may or may not pan out.

That’s exactly it. Republicans in Congress have yielded their authority to the President. And the President is insane. A bad combination.

That would take a Constitutional amendment, and there aren’t enough states that would go along with it.
