new treat / This Absolutely Fucks

This is an extraordinary letter

Patrick Wolf's Poor Old Horse Tour Exclusive EP is such a treat. The reworked Dies Irae (Morris Dancers version) is sublime

Me on the new reissue of Coil's Black Antlers, the troubling 'Teenage Lightning' and the death of John Balance: "Did the expectation for Coil to be occult-dabbling hedonists push Balance to such extremes that eventually the demands of the myth consumed the man?" thequietus.com/quietus-revi...

This is such an intensely beautiful book. Would recommend to anyone with a passing interest in the ghosts of possibility in London to check it out.

I'm not sure what my favourite book is, but the book I return to most is this. A beautiful and mind-expanding read of Jewish mythology. I think someone at Watkins recommended it to me when I was returning to London to run focus groups. I always try to wash out the corporate with the cosmic

Since that Patrick Wolf bakers dozen, I've only been listening to dead can dance. This was a great follow up to that education

Always enjoyed three album runs, but what about your favourite three book runs? I'll start

Oasis is just the British Blink-182

Recency bias and all, but this Black Country, New Road three album run is going to be in those conversations sooner rather than later

“I think death is approached bizarrely in a very one-dimensional way by a lot of art forms and that contributes to people feeling guilty about it. I mean, death is basically the same thing as life. It’s equally vibrant and dynamic and complicated.” #JerskinFendrix Interviewed buff.ly/Xu0x8on

'Lion Rumpus' is top 5 Mogwai. Late(r) stage masterpiece

okay and here is my ‘sounds like a shitpost but it’s genuine’ UK heatwave tip: if there is a Saxon or Norman church near you, and it’s open, go sit in it. not gothic, they have too many windows, get you some thick stone walls with some high up tiny windows. they stay cold. and you can just sit there

I thought about this again recently, so re-bought and re-read it. It is truly one of the great British 'what the actual fuck was that' books.

I've been wanting to do a Patrick Wolf Baker's Dozen for years and lo! here it is – 13 favourites from Nico to Björk, Shirley & Dolly Collins, Dead Can Dance, Lili Boulanger, Stereolab, Joni Mitchell & more: thequietus.com/interviews/b...

new: interviewed Adam Curtis for The Face about his really good and novel new series Shifty, as well as ketamine, Keir Starmer, Sally Rooney, Cafe Oto, revolution and the something strange that happened in his own work during the last decade. theface.com/life/adam-cu...

I believe Jerskin Fendrix is the UK's most interesting artist this decade. He thinks out big ideas in music & is devastatingly real in his lyricism. I think of Roberto Bolano a lot when I listen. Ed Dorn too. Anyway, I spoke to him for @thequietus.com about everything thequietus.com/interviews/j...

The new Jerskin track gives a window onto how peculiar and tender this new album is. open.spotify.com/track/2kGjHq...

Everyone seems to dislike this album, but it's genuinely one of the most important albums to me in my life. One of the CDs I stole from my older sibling's room every day to play. And I can't believe it's 25 years old.

I feel like the way we discuss, criticise, and occasionally emphasis with Man Utd is just us having a dialogue with Capitalism itself.
