Here's one example (of many!): tv commentators smile and laugh as they report T's inanities. They did it almost constantly in 2016 and the early years of his first term. They treated him as entertainment, which helped him get elected. They're doing it again now, just more nervously.

The number of people who failed civics thinking that freedom of speech means freedom from criticism boggles the mind.
Like, criticism is also speech y'all.
