i have a new favorite conclusion to an article thanks to @andrewrweb.bsky.social

DETAIL SHOTS INCOMING! I was INCREDIBLY lucky to have worked with all the amazing team behind #Daggerheart! They gave me a mesmerizing amount of creative freedom, involving me in the genesis of the whole aesthetic of the Campaign Frames! It was exhilarating working alongside all the team... (CONT.)

You have three days, starting today, to leave a public comment with the FDA about, say, why COVID-19 boosters should remain available to everyone and also free. "Individual consumer" is the category you most likely want (unless you are one of the other categories; if so, choose that).

The year is 25, and we are talking about the price of tea in China The year is 1025 and we are talking about the price of tea in China The year is 2025 and we are...

Fourteen Thousand. The long campaign to dehumanize Palestinians is, fundamentally, about this. To provide cover for the annihilation of a people and their culture, from the youngest to the oldest, to shrugs from the most powerful nations in the world.

Since the term AI has been poisoned by generative world-burning stuff, we're going to have to go back to calling video game AI routines "the computer." I couldn't beat the final boss because the computer was being cheap, etc.

It's not the speeches that scare them it's the standing ovations

See, this is great.

droqen’s previous game Starseed Pilgrim is a fantastic, strange, poetic game that turns roguelike elements into… building your own hub world that’s a wild garden of platforms and blocks? I definitely want to see what The End of Gameplay is all about.

An old slide I made for a lecture about writing. You have my full permission to use it if you would want to.

I know NYU doesn't give two shits about its alum's opinions (at least unless we're giving them $$$$), but we can still let them know exactly what we think about their decision to withhold this student's diploma. The NYU spokesperson's email is here: www.nyu.edu/about/news-p...

Make sure your RPG battle transitions, scene composition, and attack animations are at least as cool as this Taiwanese DOS RPG from 1995

It's a high bar, but this from @radleybalko.bsky.social might be one of the most fucked up things I've read in the new Trump era. For context, this TX lawyer had just had an informal conversation with a family caught up in ICE raids. Seriously. Read this. radleybalko.substack.com/p/the-courag...

Rümeysa Öztürk has been freed!!

My new tea hoard from @fridaytea.com arrived today! I’ll be sippin’ good for quite awhile now!

with Streetsutawney Sal making it safely across the road, meteorologists predict White Boy Summer to come six weeks early this year

This article is full of zingers “He was undoubtedly qualified, as the only clear qualifications for the role of pontiff are that candidates be male and Roman Catholic.”

There is a reason why they aren’t saying “Boys will just have to settle for fewer Tonka trucks.”

Worldbuilding Tip 6: When building worlds for RPGs, we want those worlds' details to be interactive, because players are more likely to remember details they interact with. For that reason, I tend to use bottom-up worldbuilding, starting with people and places the PCs will touch.

A big part of why I hate consumer-facing LLMs and generative "A.i." is the degradation of taste. That garbage reads poorly and looks terrible. Pushing it into everything makes everything shabbier and drags down people's standards regarding all writing, art, and aesthetics.

What a time to have been alive

I'm transcribing medieval Arabic poems for someone, and I just did a double take at this two-liner that opens with the words: أيرُك أيرٌ (Not translating… 🍆🍆) The translator, whom I already found unimpressive, continued to disappoint by timorously rendering it as "your manhood stretch". What.

There was a rather charming trend in the 1910s to introduce the actor at the beginning of the film by showing them first in their street or evening clothes and then dissolving into the costume of their characters. Here we see recent stage import William S. Hart become a bandit in THE BARGAIN (1914).

But who? I won't begrudge anyone who writes for zombie Polygon, but I know there's no way they're paying a fair wage after laying off every single writer there. You can see our pay in the union contract. When offers/rates start going out, compare it there. www.wgaeast.org/wp-content/u...

Remove a letter, ruin a movie. Star Wars: Episode IV A NEW OPE

Our colleagues in the Vox Media Union have put together a Go Fund Me. Please, if you've enjoyed what we do... If I've ever helped you in some way... If you've ever loved something more because of what we've written... Please give what you can. The next few weeks and months are going to be hard.

honey I built a chatbot to answer all the stupid questions you ask me during movies hahaha—wait what do you mean you’re leaving me?

Been looking at and saving the stories I'm most proud of after being laid off, just in case. I'm scared for the future but reminding myself that I did all this work, not Polygon. I hope I can keep doing it. I'd like to share some, starting big: www.polygon.com/23485977/vid...

If there's one thing you should do after hearing the polygon news its subscribing to Rascal fyi. I don't really feel the need to add any more arguments, just check my reposts if you need them. Subscribe to Rascal. www.rascal.news
