Cultists. There's nothing Christian about what they support.

Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill A solid first novel featuring a retired rocker who's catfished into a haunting. This was my first full-length read by Hill. I'm looking forward to checking out more, especially the upcoming King Sorrow.

Virtual attendees are only given access to virtual panels WHILE THE LIVE PANELS ARE HAPPENING. Very disappointing given that the con is the org’s premier event.

I didn’t attend this year, and I won’t ever again until the HWA demonstrates that it’s capable of doing better. Very much related to this: if you recorded a virtual panel, you should know that very few people have the opportunity to watch it.

Victorian Psycho, by Virginia Feito, delivers on the promise of its name. It's a quick, darkly amusing read.

The Fisherman by John Langan Outstanding, mesmerizing, finely written. If you haven't read The Fisherman yet, and if you like your horror grief- and cosmic-tinged, you owe it to yourself to bump it to the top of your TBR pile immediately.
