Indie author and webcomic creator. I make my comics without relying on my drawing skills or AI. https://inky-intro.carrd.co/ I'm terrified of people, so I do my best to be kind and if that fails, I just do my best to avoid them. I watch and rate movies.

It's nothing new, rock music and violent games were often blamed for "satanists" and shootings. Now they say if you see a female character objectified, you will objectify women irl: you lack self control so they need to control you through these mediums. It's the opposite of "question what you see".

things through dubs and such the problem, because they still view animation as something for kids or at least appealing to kids more than adults. And because there is a growing need to explain our discomforts in the context of an ideology and label the triggers of such discomforts as dangerous.

But before all that, Dubs helped popularize anime tremendously in Europe and the US. I celebrate dubs with all my heart, because without dubs, anime today, as we know it would still be the weird thing to watch you can't discuss with your friends, statistically speaking. It's how people try to censor

Allow me to respond like this: I agree, BUT. Yes, Dubs allowed a bigger room for basterdization when it came to distorting messages to make them more in line with western values and less in line with oriental culture and with the internet and so many subtitles around, dubs are less important today.

There are probably a lot of factors to it, my generation is among the firsts who grew up having access to the internet. Instant access to more content one can watch, more pornography, more violence, etc changes how we see n value these things. Obscenities on the screen aren't revolutionary anymore.

People became increasingly critical about everything they watch but in a way Japan can afford to tone things down, because most anime they make is primarily a way to promote selling manga and light novels and ppl go all out in fanarts + ero stuff anyway which they're fairly permissive about.

I noticed this, but unless wanting to appeal to western markets is not a huge part of the issue, I can't say why. The answer is probably very complex. In the 90s and before, the now controversial humor, vulgarity, nudity, etc were a lot more everyday part of TV culture, not just in anime.

lgbt+ ppl don't consider my stories and characters noteworthy and I'm sure the reason some aren't reading my works is that I have lgbt+ characters. People who have issues with what you write can write their own fiction, but it's always easier to just complain that something is "woke" or offensive.

Hey, "if you're really good, we're gonna try and help you get back in". Where I live the government reserves the right to "temporarily revoke" the citizenship of those who r also citizens of another country if these individuals are "working against our values". And the government decides our values.

The Duck Webcomics has been around for as long as it gets, its is community-financed without any corporate bs and as the admins are against it, banned ai comics. So definitely not ALL the other webcomic hosting platforms.

And if that's the case, can we still have meaningful relationships? And can we still find happiness? This is what Imago, Nebraska is interested in exploring throghout it's several Books.

Yes, it has a romantic setup and everything looks like it's meant to be. But what if not? What if we're all broken and in too deep in our self-destructive patterns to realize we can't get fixed by someone else? That nothing is truly meant to be in life? That we use each other to avoid our own Hell?

Also, I don't see what other choice she had in the end. Realistically speaking, it wasn't even a choice at that point.

I get it, she finally found one job that seemed nice. But come on... you don't stop being a fuckin' family just because you have a life of your own and I think the final resolution to that problem was pretty much a great one.

So rather than the mentality of punishment and punishing actions the mentality should be shifting to how can we help everyone recover including those repeating the actions of the oppressor

It's not for everyone. But man, it sure is for some. :)

I never understood this. Don't get me wrong, people celebrating the death of anyone is something that makes me feel nauseous. I don't give a fuck what a terrible person it was and apparently that'd put me in a minority anywhere, not just on twitter. But yeah, I'm glad I quit that dumpster fire.

And we know they're all over it, I mean my generation basically grew up on South Park.

I don't know why this whole torture-crazed, karma-fetishizing richsploitation line in filmmaking is considered even remotely intelligent as "satire". If all we can muster up as satire is rich = bad, so a toddler would understand, I miss films like Edukators that actually felt like food for thought.

I leave some small details leading up to it, or hints hidden. My biggest twists usually have buildup and maybe a few red herrings, because I want the reader to feel like the clues were there, but I don't want them to figure it out ahead of time.

Depends. But mostly they're planned in advance. I like cliffhangers, but I try to do them in ways to tease brand new developments, ones that will be thoroughly dealt with in the following chapter. Not just thrown in as a bait.

I don't. Lol. I try to tone it down these days, but I still often talk about which upcoming parts are favorites of mine and I'm usually vague about the reasons.

That is my reward if it's relevant to the reveal. I don't get dozens of comments usually, but when I'm building up to something I usually want to know if it went well or not.

Emotional probably. But I try to make them shocking.

But (and this is important) don't vote on something you haven't read! Do some digging and if you still like it, go for it. Just keep it clean! Thanks. 💜
