Disabled people have been warning for years that the pandemic response (or lack thereof) was going to lead to fascism We begged you to wear a mask. To fight for clean air. To refuse “the vulnerable” aside just because you wanted to to “back to normal” Include us in resistance efforts. We can help

To write this @newstatesman.com column, I asked colleagues about their enduring memories of working on Covid wards. Their messages, sent as voicenotes, had one thing in common: each respondent broke down in tears. What does that rawness mean for today's NHS? 🧵 www.newstatesman.com/politics/hea...

Isn't this what money was invented for?

Anyone that says "Stocks go down as well as up" has just told you everything they know about economics.

Cost of greed crisis

Happy austerity day everyone! If you can afford to drive, please do so carefully. None of us can afford to become disabled.

#DisabilityBenefits cuts will cost more in every way. “For every pound that someone loses in benefits, you know that – if a council has to step in to cover the shortfall – it’s about £1.50 additional impact”- Disability Policy Centre. Important piece by @cjayanetti.bsky.social tinyurl.com/3vun5uz8

Only the rich boomers like Ferrari sat about enjoying the sun during COVID. The majority of the population worked the entire lockdown and struggled to stay safe.

The UK, a place where mental illness which is real, is fake. But greed which is very real and the biggest problem, is great and needs to be fed and kept completely tax free.

Of course it's not poverty that's the issue. It's never poverty, or we might actually have to do something about poverty.

The problem: our mental health is getting worse. The government's solution: blame us, and punish us by taking away our financial safety net. 1/4 www.theguardian.com/society/2025/mar/12/mental-ill-health-is-behind-soaring-disability-benefits-bill-in-england-and-wales-report-says

Throughout history, countries biggest growth were times when they invested in workers. If you cut health and welfare, how can you possibly expect anything to get done?

How can you look at the outcomes of a history of austerity, plus what is happening in America right now; and think this is a good idea? www.bbc.com/news/article... #kierstarmer #bbc #austerity

Important: The Institute for Fiscal Studies has just published a report saying that more people are claiming disability benefits “because more people are suffering from mental health problems” with evidence to that effect. This a vital counter to insinuations it’s suggestibility.

New: Labour plans to cut disability benefits instead of imposing a wealth tax. Ben Jennings’ cartoon nails it. A government that fines disabled people while letting the rich park wherever they want—both literally and politically.

Let's take from the poor and sick, so the rich will lend us back the money they drain from the middle. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

It would be helpful if more people understood renewable energy is actually an extremely disruptive technology and the reason monied interests are trying to make folks hate it is that they are the ones which will be disrupted.

Me thinking about using my laptop now it's filled with #copilot and #gemini

I’ll tell you what’s a ‘stain on this country’, @RachelReevesMP: - 2 million on mental health waiting lists - Austerity gutting youth services, community centres & SEN support You can’t strip away support and be surprised by the consequences.

The United Nations just called out the UK’s #disability benefits system. PIP & ESA don’t cover basic costs. Disabled people are being pushed into poverty by welfare cuts. The government must fix this and stop treating disabled people as morally suspicious: tinyurl.com/2fxmr3cn

There are plenty of papers on the catastrophic effects of austerity on mental health; I read an old one today: doi.org/10.3390/ijer... Would Brexit, social media and a pandemic have improved the situation? The resources required to mask and society's capacity to be understanding have been removed.

Google assistant stopped being functional for me with the introduction of Gemini. Search 'assitant settings' in settings. Scroll to 'digital assistants from Google', and there you can revert back.

As someone applying for #dclinpsy for the first time and whose security depends entirely on employment, I find it profoundly concerning to hear of trainees close to graduation worrying about finding a job.

Wealth inequality is not sustainable. We have two options. A. Tax the rich B. AX the rich I think most billionaires would agree with option A.

Name suggestions?
