Charles Yu and Chloe Zhao are bringing Iain M. Banks' Consider Phlebas to TV!! 🌌 reactormag.com/charles-yu-i...

Went to my first school board meeting this evening for a district my family loves, and it was actually lovely and community driven. Kids presented projects, the business of running the district was presented and public commentaries were sane and caring. In such tumult, it was actually hopeful.

Listen to Aggressive Steven by Aesop Rock, reread Notes From Underground by Dostoevsky. Voila, my brain makes up a little allegory about how the current world works. #writing #writingcommunity #fiction robotissmiling.com/2025/02/19/o...

One a Day This is what you get when you are rereading Notes from Underground and listening to Aesop Rock's Aggressive Steven. A short tale about someone named Steven who is taking...something...and how he descends.

these guys spent 60 kajillion dollars to make a computer forget how to do math

I've been working on a prequel novel to this story I wrote years ago for the last couple of months. It's nice to sink back into a few of my favorite characters: robotissmiling.com/2016/04/29/t...

Wrote about the gig economy ride-hail model, its metastasis across the economy, and a brilliant Roosevelt Institute report on gig nursing that came out last month. thetechbubble.substack.com/p/ubers-bast...

Investors worldwide stand to lose more than $1 trillion today because of the sudden fear that the market-sustaining AI spending boom might have been for nothing.

Sometimes, the first item to travel through a wormhole is a condiment.

@iandunt.bsky.social Really nice article (iandunt.substack.com/p/how-to-res...). This hit me "Instagram had started to make me feel empty. Each time I put it down I felt a little more hollowed out." A year or so ago, I signed up for Instagram for business advertising reasons. 1/2

Doing background research for an in progress novel about corporate sovereignty. Interesting anthropological review: journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1... A corporation's sphere of influence is sometimes softly negotiated or implicit, what would it mean for total legal control to be explicitly given?

Hucksters gonna Huck. AI founders are now using the line: For the sake of the country, please let us steal things to generate a whole bunch of fake stuff that looks passably like real stuff. 80.lv/articles/ope...

This article by @jessdkant.bsky.social is such a good (and very disturbing) read. Our society is gleefully racing back towards the dark ages. It's a race to the bottom, and the finish line is when we all stop thinking

Ten years ago, I sketched out a few characters belonging to one common universe in a series of short stories. Finally back to writing a couple of novels that have been on the back burner for a decade. Thought I'd share the old stuff: robotissmiling.com/2015/10/13/t... #scifi #writingcommunity

Here is the speech I gave at Seton Hill University about my writing and path to publishing for the keynote which was followed by a reading of a sampling of my work.
