Newspeak in the novel "1984" by George Orwell comes to mind:
Newspeak follows most rules of English grammar, yet is a language characterised by a continually diminishing vocabulary; complete thoughts are reduced to simple terms of simplistic meaning.

These are valid points. I would just add that journalism has dumbed itself down as the education systems in the US have been starved, programs cut, creating a large segment of the population that can't think critically - corporate media and the 1% capitalize on this.

There are two take aways: 1 - PMMC showed great leadership and diplomacy in a difficult spot. 2 - The team in the room knew the play and ushered the journalists out of the room, firmly, politely and quickly. Good job all around!

This call to arms by Theoden after he is free from Wormtongue's whisperings and Saruman's spells seems appropriate:
"Arise now, arise, Riders of Théoden!
Dire deeds awake: dark is it eastward.
Let horse be bridled, horn be sounded!
Forth Eorlingas!"

The centre is the centre and will attract red tories and blue liberals. When the right wing is so far out, the entire centre looks left to them.

I read that the Beatles and the Beach Boys were leapfrogging each other with lp releases, in basically competition. When Pet Sounds came out, Paul McCartney was quoted as saying, "This is the best lp ever. How are we going to beat this?". The Beatles' next lp was Sgt Peppers...
