So obviously I thought I’d drive myself mad trying to be Picasso for this rough (normally I’m trying to be Van Gogh so at least it was a different variety of frustration) the light and love generated is mutual in my version though. Wouldn’t it be lovely to be Picasso eh?!

The Arrival by Shaun Tan is really interesting as it is wordless, but uses invented text to help express the experience of someone arriving in a new country.

There’s just something special about glimpsing inside a sketchbook isn’t there.

I do love drawing a tree, only a little tiny bit less than I love drawing a hedge.

Definitely. I always like to know where my characters live.

I think so long as it’s not a starter pack titled ‘awful smelly meanies’ it’s fine?

Seeing as so many people seem to like these, it would be rude not to let you know you can buy a house portrait by me here :-) robynwilsonowen.bigcartel.com/product/pers...

I’m sure yours are wonderful. In these I’m working through an obsession with how surface (flat tonal shapes) and line interact… trying in my sketchbook to tonally solve my problems with colour - which in my drawings is always the surface interacting with my dip pen line… forever a work in progress.

I have done two house moves where we had to pack a stick collection… sticks are important!

On Twitter you’re like my Gabriel Oak - everytime I look you’re there. Had to visit your profile to see you here… there must be a ‘see more cod’ setting I can adjust.

I teach a 2.5hr evening life drawing class, we have a 15min break half way through. Last week one of the students waltzed back in munching a pork pie saying his wife mustn’t know.

Small bits of acting things out - curling up in a ball to be a seed/to go to sleep/to give yourself a hug. Stretching up tall to grow or wake up or be an enormous wave…

I do picturebooks…. Ask them questions… can you spot x? What time of year do you think this is? What would you do if you were them? What do you think x will say? Also get them to join in with any soy effects, a blowing nose, a roar, a whoosing river, the rain…
