...illegal firearm ownership is a threat to community safety.

My understanding is that this research is being used in a lot of community/NGO submissions to government consultations and so the gun lobby is trying to undermine it. I think what they're trying to argue is that this is legal firearm ownership, not illegal, and anything that takes focus off...

Good question. It's fewer gun owners owning more guns each.

Thanks David, I was the same when we started looking at this a few years ago. I think a lot of Aus thinks that it is all sorted, silly yanks, etc...but no. Here's our report from 2019: australiainstitute.org.au/report/hunte...

Here's what they don't want you to see. Nearly 30 years after Port Arthur: -Over 4 million guns. - National Firearms Agreement - incomplete. - National Firearms Register - doesn't exist. Do better @albomp.bsky.social, AG Michelle Rowland australiainstitute.org.au/report/gun-c...

Japanese companies made $1 BILLION...CLEAR PROFIT, by on-selling Australian gas last year. We are being taken for mugs by Big Gas and it's time for the Aus Gov to do something about it. ieefa.org/resources/ho...

It's not that the media doesn't matter, it does. But the big media companies can't sway elections anymore. So get those big-boy pants on, @albomp.bsky.social, @jimchalmers.bsky.social ,Murray Watt, et al, it's time to govern for the community and not for big media.

The reason we got a whole column is this: The @albomp.bsky.social Gov is the first to have never been endorsed by The Aus. The AFR hasn't endorsed the ALP in 30 yrs Think about that for a sec Perhaps for the first time, Aus govs can govern for the community without fear of media barons.

Hi Jane, pretty clear I reckon. He's against FF expansion and greenwash. Real zero, not net zero. That's the "it" I'm referring to.

thanks Les. Each electorate is defined as inner/outer/prov/rural by the Aus Electoral Commission. Definitely some subjective calls in there, but that's what we've used. Not sure if they have a specific definition.

I make no comment about Santos and 'ocean-going tugs'.

Agree, and Skye says that in the piece. But the Qld election example goes beyond this, IMO, because Labor released so many new, impressive policies (eg 50c fares, free school lunches) close to the election that were gaining traction by the day.
