Actually, no, you can’t. Engineers & elected officials hoping/pretending they’ll make everyone happy (or mostly ppl driving not mad) undermines a city’s purported health & safety goals. Pushing against, rather than acquiescing to, car dominance is exhausting. www.nashville.gov/featured-ini...

The main obstacle here is from NDOT’s review isn’t there sufficient traffic volume to merit a light at this location, even though we’re in the process of adding several hundred new units on 54th alone. It’s something we’re working on addressing currently with the developers and NDOT

We have several SPs in place which commit the developer to construct traffic islands at this intersection, as well as contribute toward a traffic light.

Our neighborhood is adding a lot new residents and businesses on both sides of centennial. Unfortunately there’s no safe way for residents to cross, so the street operates more as a moat dividing the neighborhood than connecting it.

It’s a big problem! My wife and experience all the time walking to Silo Market or Hen House Salon from our house.

We can facilitate different modes of transit here to pivot away from outsized reliance on cars, including improvements like bike lanes, crosswalks, traffic islands, and traffic lights/stops on centennial, while also supporting local businesses to nurture more third spaces / a sense of community here
