That was an amazing model. Made me think of the marble map of Rome.

Are you sure it's a reference to Hadrians Wall. Have a vague recollection that the Antonine Wall was also labelled the Severan wall at one point. Possibly covered by Keppie in his antiquarian book. Alternatively I'd suggest emailing Hingley and asking.

Late to the party. I certainly know his Antonine Wall section has been talked about. Have you checked Breeze & Dobson.

Sorry just seen this. The Romans certainly used pre-existing 'routes' through the landscape & some evidence of them using trackways but it's not a blanket answer one way or other.

I know I’m always a bit annoyed I don’t get Kindle versions. Only saw it last minute but already had a full price copy

Trier is a lovely town and well worth visiting. Lots of great Roman ruins and some lovely wine in that region and great river cruises. Enjoy.

Yes you can. It’s mainly stripped out inside but lovely nonetheless

Castle Hill lidar should be in the latter book qlthough there’s nothing to see in the ground there and I don’t think anything comes up in the lidar

The book at this link contains a lot of lidar imagery for the Antonine Wall and should cover the undeveloped sections by Bearsden www.archaeopress.com/Archaeopress...

Sadly the fort at Bearsden no longer exists. It’s underneath the flats which are next to the bathhouse. You might find this book interesting www.socantscot.org/news/new-ope...

And here is episode two where we discuss the campaigns made by Rome (there's also a great Star Wars reference). Thanks again to Dr Tibbs who was fascinating to talk with and learn so much from. #ancientrome #scotland #burnsnight

Two main reasons - I don’t want someone to set up accounts and pretend to be me and secondly, Space Karen might one day go to Mars and Twitter becomes somewhere I want to return to

There are a couple of camps in that area - confirmed and unconfirmed. They’re just not shown on the map because of space

Do you mean upper left? If so, it's because the Romans stick to the lowland areas as they are easier to traverse, more fertile, and easier to build fortifications on, hence why nothing to the upper left.

These were founded in different periods, so it's not really possible to infer this. The (very) general rule is that forts are a days march apart, around 20 miles or so. Similar thing for camps, but it's dependent on dating and other factors.
