However, what I will never understand is why people seem to think that the market value of a top GK is so much lower than an equivalent top player in virutally any other position.

I know people have different thoughts on Maignan but I would be ok with this - a proper, experienced, big club, international GK for a change.
Maignan as #1 with Petrovic as back up and Penders on a loan to a Championship club. The others can be sold.

People talk about assessing players on "their body of work". Well Felix club career is stellar: Benfica, Athletico, Chelsea (x2), Barcelona & AC Milan. As far as I know he's only ever achieved anything at Benfica. Who else has played for so many leading clubs & achieved next to nothing?
