"He supports the 1st Amendment. But that is not the majority of the behavior that we have seen taking place in Los Angeles. We have seen mobs of violent rioters and agitators assaulting law enforcement officers, assaulting our federal immigration authorities." These assertions are all laughable.

Their entire argument seems to rest on the assertion that the president has the power to invoke 10 U.S.C. § 12406 if he believes that a "rebellion" or an "invasion" are not only occurring but could take place. Trump loves to use those terms, of course — but does mere rhetoric carry any legal force?

I did indeed laugh out loud. I guess you don't need any other authority than "foundational precedent dating back nearly two centuries" — an assertion for which they provided no citations.
