The ALT made me happy, in an “I’m online too much” kind of way.

Whoops, forgot alt: A coyote looks back across a shoulder as she trots down a rain-slicked cobblestone street in a residential area of Seattle.

Look at this fella. Photo taken today by a buddy who lives higher up on QA.

The coyotes in Seattle are a great reason to keep your cats inside. I mean, if you needed another reason besides bird-revenge flu. Great article, thank you! (Go Buffs! 😉)

Just finished Playground, by Richard Powers. Reread of Island of the Blue Dolphins next. That won’t take long, though — anyone have a reco?

I love The New Vegetarian Epicure, by Anna Thomas. Straightforward, thoughtful, delicious. Definitely not just for vegetarians, helpful for meal planning when you’re cutting back on the carne, though.

Loved the book enough to be terrified of watching the movie.

My dad worked for NOAA for years and years. The sound of him rolling in his grave is scaring the cats.

Sounds a little “halt and catch fire” in a fun way.

Try kiwi. Less sweet than pineapple, and it brings a nice little zip of acidity.

Also featured in The Book of the Dun Cow. Worth reading if you want to be paralyzed by grief for a bit.

I spotted him one night at the Sitting Room after a performance at On the Boards.

Did a Seattle restaurant owner wrote that?

Nibör. Maybe a basket meant for house slippers.

One of my absolute favorites. Genuinely harrowing. “Don’t Look Up,” but in Moominvalley.

I got it in one today!

Sure. Get us to look so we are unbothered by inaffabeley, but we get to think about “apron of compliance” forever.

Fashioning a skeleton of an imaginary animal. Joints were bouncy with pink beads , bones fashioned from flour-salt-water dough. The mice found it and destroyed it at the same time my window-drawer herb garden was devoured. Not sure which the mice found first.

Only one Aubrey/Maturin movie?? Come on!

Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead; Magician’s Apprentice by Ann Patchett; Big Little Lies by Liane Moriaty.

That’s pretty cool. Discourstalations.

Loved Slough House series, despite/because of its Rogue One-ish vibes. Just finished the first of the Oxford Series. Now hooked.

Yes. Maybe a slightly lower heat.

Oh fun! Its flavor is somewhat evocative of mole, so treat it as you would regular garlic, but consider switching the liquidy stuff to bring out the odd chocolate/char notes. Like where you’d deglaze with white wine, maybe use Guinness or Marsala. Happy cooking!
