Yes, the period after the Civil War is often called the “second founding “ and couldn’t have happened without disenfranchising the confederacy during reconstruction. Now MAGA wants to overturn it and what we want is the 3rd republic where money is not speech and corporations are not people.

Voting is necessary but insufficient.
comment in response to post
The Constitution and our electoral laws make the 2 party system entrenched. Ranked choice voting could change that.

He had a great reading list at the end

Yes. She was so disliked because advertising works. The Republikkkans ran a 25-year campaign against her before she was nominated. We could even say she won, since she got 3 million more votes than Twitler.

Exit polls showed a 10-point gender gap across every demographic. Whites, blacks, Hispanics, college-educated, probably bigger for non-college-educated. Misogyny in the electorate is real and bipartisan.

That’s a great question and I’m not the expert but I think Greenpeace will probably declare bankruptcy. You really can’t go wrong supporting AOC. She’s the most powerful voice for addressing climate change and has proven herself a responsible steward of donor money.

And for charges to be brought and fines to be assessed

Me too. I think 65 is too young. 80 is definitely too old. But there needs to be a role for “elder statesmen”.

At this point, donating to Greenpeace may be actually donating to the Dakota Access Pipeline, because of the legal judgment against Greenpeace.

He was great. His most memorable quote: “George W Bush forever dispels the myth of white superiority.”

You missed where it said “former congressman”

This is great and very much needed. Most American citizens don’t understand how their government works.

Is there a link?

A good policy no doubt. Negotiating with Trump is called “appeasement”. But Trump and his sycophants don’t give a sh*t about our protests. The only thing that will stop the dismantling of our republic is the Republikkkan voter base. The next election may be too late.
comment in response to post
It’s a good reference, and thanks for the additional links. It speaks volumes that Biden was upset because of the Hunter Biden persecution and not because Garland completely failed to hold Trump to account. Democrats let him avoid jail because they thought he would drag Republikkkans to defeat.
comment in response to post
Wow ok, a reference to a Washington Post article on a different subject in which Biden’s regret is mentioned in the 10th paragraph in connection with Garland’s handling of Hunter Biden’s prosecution. But ok. Biden really couldn’t fire Garland and say the Justice Department was independent.
comment in response to post
There is a propaganda machine that keeps 85% of Republikkkan voters in his cult by systematically distorting the truth. Can we take some action to destroy this propaganda machine?
comment in response to post
Sources please. Who forced Garland on Biden? And when did he say he regretted appointing him?
comment in response to post
And will you defeat him with the same hate and division he employs? Loving kindness wins the hearts of sideline sitters and prodigal sons alike.
comment in response to post
You are right. If the sideline sitters would vote we would win every election. But our republic may not survive to the next election. Trump can be ended now if the Republikkkan base turns against him.

This is The Way
comment in response to post
We need his supporters to turn against him RIGHT NOW. He has 85% approval among Republikkkan voters.
comment in response to post
This is definitely not true

I think we should change it to this. It’s a better symbol— a rainbow against a background of black stripes. But I guess the stars could be 50% white.

Well nobody is telling them
comment in response to post
Not to dismiss the comments rightly saying Fox viewers don’t have the same facts, but are you also the ones who keep complaining that Democrats are doing nothing? Dems have no power, and Trump has 85% approval from the people you say we shouldn’t take to. They are the ones keeping Trump in office.

Putin is his master. The Sith always come in pairs.

Every time Ted speaks up here, he gets a lot of attacks for not doing anything. Attacking Republikkkans might be more effective. (Not holding my breath though)

Trump still has something like 85% approval among Republikkkan voters. Until that changes he will not be stopped. Most Republikkkan congressmen are in safe red districts. They don’t fear the majority-they fear the majority of Republikkkans.

Democrats have almost no power.

But his approval among Republikkkan voters is still like 80%. Until that changes he will not be stopped.

(Ignoring your insults) House members wrote articles of impeachment DURING THE RIOT and both houses were in joint session. It was 14 days before inauguration. After the inauguration the impeachment was unnecessary. A simple majority in both houses could have barred Trump from holding office again.
comment in response to post
I honestly don’t know wtf you’re talking about but here’s a source. After the January 6 riot the House adjourned until January 11. mynbc15.com/amp/news/nat...

Alaska has ranked choice and that’s how Murkowsky won her most recent reelection.
comment in response to post
You mean the Nancy Pelosi that gave the House a 5-day weekend after the Jan 6 attempted coup? The one that wouldn’t bring impeachment after the blue wave of 2018, and finally did on just the Zelenskyy extortion affair, but none of the other hundreds of crimes committed by Trump? That Nancy Pelosi?

She voted to convict Trump. www.murkowski.senate.gov/press/releas...
