There are millions of trans people, so you can always say "some" of them think anything and it'll be true. The author here is just trying to launder his own opinion into the mouth of the trans community. Just repulsive and dishonest behavior, but no surprise given it's the New York Times.

Students, including college students, are mostly there because they're coerced, not for the love of learning. That was true before LLMs.

The function of the New York Times is to normalize Trump for readers Fox News can't reach. In this case, they're normalizing the idea that ICE policy somehow exempts them from federal law.

The term "cancel" as in "cancel culture" is so funny, as if, after three hundred thousand years of human history, social justice activists invented an entirely new type of human behavior - "cancelling" - in 2014.

Again: Trump thinks that the "M S 1 3" in this photo is a tattoo. He is unable to tell that it's just been typed on top of the photo. This is the man Trumpists have entrusted with the nuclear codes

Yes, you understood the teachings of Jesus exactly. He wanted you to get a job with the government, arm yourself to the teeth, hide your face with a mask, kidnap poor immigrant farm workers, and deport them to foreign jails to be imprisoned for life. Just like the Bible says.

“Trump officials reverse guidance exempting farms, hotels from immigration raids,” The Post reports. It’s clear that while Trump may be the one sitting behind the Resolute Desk, mass deportation architect-in-chief Stephen Miller is running the show: americasvoicecnn.substack.com/p/trump-demo...

I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles

If random men in masks claiming to be ICE agents try to grab me, and they’re *not* really ICE, I have the legal right to defend myself against them, yes? And if they are ICE, I don’t? So how am I supposed to tell the difference? I’m supposed to give my masked kidnappers the benefit of the doubt??

The function of the New York Times is to normalize Trump for readers Fox News can't reach. It does damage by weakening resistance to Trump among credulous liberals.

The thing is, politics around the world right now makes a lot more sense if you accept that many people regard “a subordinate population to be tortured at will” as one of the best benefits government can potentially provide

Just a reminder that Trump claims to be unable to tell the difference between numbers and letters typed on top of a photo and the person in the photo having a tattoo of those numbers and letters. He's mentally unfit.

Transphobes are so f***ing gross

Israel attacking Iran and Iran attacking back has driven Israeli leaders underground and required US media to gingerly note the IDF maintains underground bases in “populated areas”. I wrote about this awkward fact and US media’s racist and cheesy “human shields” double standard.

The NYT’s politics are about as hard to figure out as Elon’s.

"Common sense" is often a tell that the speaker is trying to avoid arguing a topic on the merits, because they know they'll lose. An appeal to confident ignorance.

Many columnists at major newspapers basically write crap. When it's right-coded crap, they get more praise for it on Twitter, because fewer people there tell them it's crap than do so on Bluesky. But they want the people who say it's crap here to come back to Twitter so they don't lose reach.

Just absolutely absurd levels of fearmongering. "The political calculus has been WARPED! WARPED, I say!" But even less acceptable is the last line in the screenshot insinuating that ranked choice is antidemocratic while refusing to actually say anything.

lmao

Is there an in-universe reason why the Betazoids don't dominate Federation politics and command hierarchies? "Can literally read minds" seems like a decisive advantage.

🎵 concrete jungle where dreams are made of 🎵 ???

This is why anti-Trump partisans make a journalistic institutions *more* trustworthy, not less. "Impartial" journalists - constantly insecure about whether or not they're perceived as "biased" against loathsome authoritarians destroying our country - offer no resistance to right wing infiltration.

Thinking back to when Matt Yglesias said that Musk buying Twitter would be good for Democrats and left-wing politics.

squeak squeak

Even if you're unsure whether Kavanaugh assaulted Christine Blasey Ford, we know he told lies during his confirmation hearing. Conservatives weren't "radicalized" they're just allergic to accountability. www.currentaffairs.org/news/2018/09...

The workers who feed us are not criminals. Most have been here for decades. We need to protect the workers who are already here from being hunted down in the fields.  If President Trump is in charge, these raids against farms will stop immediately.

I guess the villain of the new game "MindsEye" is named Silva? gamerant.com/mindseye-mar...
