Data-driven decarbonization at @electricitymaps.com Almost certainly that guy you know from the internet. There are 20 data centers between my house and the grocery store.

bsky.app/profile/sahi... If only they had some sort of power to prevent this bill from moving forward, say, some sort of vote.

Friday afternoon news dump, but it's just me cleaning a few days of newsletters out of my inbox and sharing links? Sure, let's go, why not.

Telling that I had no idea Ranger Rick was part of NWF?! I feel like there was one feature that was my favorite part of the magazine as a kid, and it might've been a puzzle or a comic? It was probably the comic.

Surely nothing will happen today...

- Broadcast for Stereolab - Helmet for Faith No More - Guided By Voices for Pavement* *I am still foggy about this one. I remember seeing GBV at Roseland, but we might’ve left before Pavement played? I have no explanation, and I wasn’t into Pavement yet.

Oh you want more? ✨Lamine D'Or✨

If it's out of context soccer skeets you want, let me just ask why Stu Holden is in the tank for France?

This was about Doctor Who, btw.

NARRATOR: He did not, in fact, have the stamina or focus to functionally live skeet the event, and posted a bunch of random things unthreaded and out of context. ME: Like I used to tweet about soccer games I was watching on TV, yes, like that. NARRATOR: [sighs]

Fact checking!

Listening to newspaper journalists on a media panel talk indirectly about tailoring their reporting and framing in response to audience analytics and I shudder, and then I remember I’m wearing the hot dog suit on this one. (Sorry. Measure your impact, kids.)

Permitting horror stories from both parties tonight: 1) Deepening the port in Savannah by 5 feet took 26 years from start of permitting to completion. 2) A solar project to add multiple GW of clean energy to the grid in New Mexico took 17 years to get through permitting and is getting built now.

I have to say, the whole “we have to compete with China” narrative doesn’t really land with me, but the lack of internal consistency from the folks enacting tariffs and gutting federally funded science also, uh, doesn’t land.

Because I *love* me a parasocial relationship, it’s absolutely thrilling to hear @volts.wtf in person but also since energy policy podcasts are also the source of so much of my anxiety uhhh I forgot where this was going, but glad he’s interviewing a democrat after that first rep.

Are Republicans really trying to sell this budget to the American people by telling them the tax cuts (for the richest people) must be extended or else?? That’s their pitch?

The cognitive dissonance every time I come to one of these events and listen to Republican lawmakers talk about the great clean energy successes of their state and then rationalizing their votes against clean energy… 😬😬😬

I’m not drinking these days, so I would be unaffected by a drinking game requiring drinking every time someone says “abundance” tonight, which is good, because we’re one sponsored talk in and there were probably four already.

About to gear up and head to DC for this @canarymedia.com event featuring @volts.wtf and some other folks, including Congress critters. Dare I go old school and live skeet it? I might. If you see a guy who looks like my avatar but 6 years older, say hello! www.eventbrite.com/e/canary-liv...

A lot of the posts about this are just like “MAPS” but I think more often I called the destination on the telephone and physically hand wrote the directions they dictated. And then followed them.

TFW you see the "solar duck" thing a thousand times and still can't see the duck in the graph

Rose?!

While I’m late to the discourse: The panopticon is everywhere and that’s bad, but speed cameras are the only police that have ever given me a speeding ticket. (I have always been a middle aged suburban white dad driving the expected vehicle, essentially, even as a teenager.)

Probably a good sign (for my health) that I had to look up why y’all have been making “taco” jokes.

Was as checked out as I can get this weekend without actually going to the woods. Walked a gazillion steps at Harpers Ferry, built like 70% of a new DIY planter for the deck, grilled hot dogs irrationally. Surely there will be no consequences.
