#Queerprompts 8/June/25: Characters' Queer Identities? Most of my core cast are queer: Tenora - Lesbian. Karis - Demi (hasn't worked it out yet). Naeliya - Aro/ace. Nelack - Enby. Taesonith & Charlys - Bi.

#JuneWorldbuilders 8/June/25: Everyday clothes worn in WIP? All tops worn by Rychillans have short sleeves - 1 inch long at the most. This is due to the terax marks they have tattooed along their arms - covering them is considered dishonest at best. Just as well it's a tropical, hot climate.

#FantasyIndiesJune 7/June/25: Saturday Snippet: Magic. This one is from 'Embers of Doubt'. Apprentice Nelack is demonstrating their skills with magic, while trying to get a position as a mage at the local college.

#QueerPrompts 6/June/25: Something your villain is proud of? He's a good teacher. Students engage with his classes, and they enjoy having him. He's proud of them when he sees them succeeding with the magic he's taught them.

Every time! 😊 #writingjokes #reading #writingquotes #amwriting

Quote from Andreas Cesario in "Chimera Obscura", fourth in my #vyrdigaanprophecies series of #contemporaryfantasy novels. "Tis the trouble with privileged folks. They don't see service employees as real people". #characterquotes #chimeraobscura #spymaster #fantasycharacter

#FantasyIndiesJune 3/June/25: How does your magic system work? There's five elements: fire, water, air, ground & flora. Everyone has one natural element. Magic is stored in crystals, for each element. Runes are also used to control magic to perform work such as driving steam engines.

Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way. - E. L. Doctorow #WritingCommunity #WritersCommunity #WritingQuotes #WritersQuotes #WritersRUs #ELDoctorow #FictionWritingCommunity

#FantasyIndiesJune 2/June/25: Magic & science in WIP? Magic is elemental, and goes hand-in-hand with science. Runes are used to control magic to perform work - such as fire and water runes used to drive steam engines. So there are documented processes on how to get it to work and it's very common.

#QueerPrompts 30/May/25: Have you started over from scratch on a story you finished? No. I find that restarting something from scratch tends to kill my imagination. Don't know why, that's just how I'm wired. So I'll take a bit of time over my first draft, then rework that into a final.

#MayWorldbuilders 30/5/25: Would you go to the world you created? Yes, if it were possible. I made a world that I'd like to visit. Wouldn't mind meeting my characters either, although I imagine a few of them would have a few words for me regarding the darker elements of their backstories.

#FantasyIndiesMay #FantasyIndiesMayTober 30/5/25: What stage is your WIP in? Embers of Doubt (book 2): Final chapter about to go to editor. Guilt Travels With You (book 2.5): Starting drafting. Book 3 (Untitled): Rough plot outlined, detailed outline being developed.

#<3oc: what kind of oc creator are you? #oc #ocsky #ocart #ocquestion #art #writingprompt #ocprompt

Question for other #authors. How much of a story can be told in media res? I'm looking at doing a novel in this format, which catches up to the start about halfway through. But I'm concerned it may come across as disconnected. #WritingQ

#Queerprompts 20/May/25: Prefer to write villains being defeated or redeemed? Depends on the villain. For some, their path is paved with good intentions. They may be redeemable (after arrest & trial). Others are only in it for themselves, and usually end up not being redeemed.

#Queerprompts 19/May/25: Agender or gender non-conforming characters in story? Mage Nelack Elmor is a nonbinary Rychillan who's travelled a lot around the kingdom. They're skilled with water and air magic. Introduced in 'Embers of Doubt', they're initially a murder suspect. (Art by Aikyo Winter.)

#QueerPrompts 17/May/25: Homophobia, biphobia, transphobia in story? Not in the Kingdom of Rychilla. It was one of the first worldbuilding decisions I made. There is some in other nations, such as the Jaeleshi Empire before their revolution.

#FantasyIndiesMay #FantasyIndiesMayTober 14/5/25: Schemes in WIP. 'Embers of Doubt' has 2. There's the murderer, scheming to replace his boss, to get a payraise. This will help him repay his gambling debts. Then there's the detective. He's playing fairy politics, as he can't work with his council.

Happens all the time 😊 #writingjokes #reading #writingquotes #amwriting

We all have to have a hobby 😊 #writingjokes #reading #writingquotes #amwriting

#MayWorldbuilders 10/May/25: Hand gestures. Rychillans use a gesture where they hold their hands in front of them, upright with thumbs linked. They'll then slowly lower their hands. This mimics fairy wings drooping when they're calm. It's usually used to defuse tension when discussion gets heated.
