Yet another disastrous fallout of this joke of an administration - hears “Pentagon Chief warns of imminent China threat…” and automatically dismisses anything that comes after because I heard “🤡 Pete Hegseth” and assume it’s all right wing propaganda actions with no intention of protecting the USA.

The masks also serve to hide the identities of those illegally deputized (read, white nationalist militias) from accountability of the individual, the group, and the administration with their unconstitutional, criminal directives.

What about this? “A provision in the proposed spending bill would restrict the authority of federal courts to hold government officials in contempt when they violate court orders.” www.justsecurity.org/113529/terri...

5/ And there are provisions making HUGE cuts to child nutrition programs. 30% cuts to food for kids. C'mon. That means Republicans are taking food away from 12.6 million people so billionaires can…..buy an extra yacht? www.politico.com/live-updates...

4/ As usual, Republicans are trying to put male politicians in charge of women's bodies. A hidden provision in the bill bans nonprofits who provide family planning and reproductive health care from receiving federal funds. www.notus.org/congress/pla...

3/ The bill BANS states from regulating artificial intelligence - a present to the big AI companies that send $$ to Republicans. So now no state consumer protections against AI stealing our jobs or corrupting our kids. What citizen is asking for that?? www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

This is the party of bribes and corruption, after all. How do you guarantee loyalty? Full pardons and a bonus check. And people have the audacity to call sex workers, whores.

This is an unelected oil executive now calling the shots for America’s public lands. No Senate vote. No accountability. Just a signature and the quiet handoff of power to Musk’s inner circle. This is what authoritarianism looks like, buried in bureaucracy.

But under Burgum’s order, Hassen has the power to fire employees, make funding decisions, set policy, and approve or deny programs without needing the Secretary’s sign-off. He’s already reviewing all grants and contracts over $50,000.

This isn’t just paperwork. The Interior Department manages over 500 million acres of land, upholds treaty obligations with more than 500 Native American tribes, and protects over 400 national parks and historic sites.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum signed a secretarial order handing sweeping power to Tyler Hassen, a former oil executive and now Musk staffer. Hassen now oversees key operations across the department, including the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, and Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Fuck the NIH then. People saying things like “Science is Dead” have given up before the fight has even begun. This is major, absolutely not undervaluing the moment, but this means that we have to shift how we’ve done things and create new alternatives. It’ll be hard but giving up isn’t an option.

Let’s use the correct words. This was not “deportation” to an El Salvadoran Gulag, this was “rendition.” Language here is important @nytimes.com.
