Taking a moment to wish everyone here a healthy and happy 2025, and positive connections with friends new and old (as I wait for the paracetamol to kick in). youtu.be/Ui-9OuxVXq0?...

GPs get such negative press. My GP (who generally gives an excellent service) came in at 7.30am last week to do my son's blood test so he could get to school on time 😍🙏🏼.

New on the hub today, the latest #patientsafety report from @hssib.bsky.social. This looks at the impacts of transition from inpatient children and young people’s mental health services to adult mental health services on people who have experienced it www.pslhub.org/learn/invest...

A good word from Mary Oliver this morning. 💙 @maryoliverdaily.bsky.social

There is only one week to go until the Safety for All Conference 2024, which explores topics such as sustainability, mental health, PSIRF implementation and more. Secure your place below⬇️ www.eventbrite.com/e/safety-for...

All eyes on the ward: the use and impact of surveillance in inpatient mental health settings https://buff.ly/49aqQO8 "The evidence base does not support the use of surveillance technologies and intended outcomes are not being achieved."

I was reminded today that you can't just 'create safety' with a clever technique, or just declare "all views are welcome". The key thing is WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS when people speak up with honest views. Is there genuine openness & welcoming of diverse views? This will tell you something about safety.

That time of year when it takes at least 15 minutes longer to get to bed, due to switching off multiple fairy lights. I love it.

Tonight's 3 good things... 1. I slept 55 whole minutes past my 5am standard insomnia time. 2. We finally cat-flea treated the carpets only 3m after we first intended too. 3. I found nothing but immense kindness in my connections with colleagues today. Hugely grateful 🥲.

For anyone having a rough Monday morning, from my 7 year old: “My favourite day of the week is Tuesday…because it’s the furthest one from Monday”

Daily reminder there is no algorithm that pushes posts that are “liked” up the chain, we’re all manually cranking them with reposts.

Anyone interested in resilience, safety science or patient safety should follow the very brilliant, newly joined @siriwiig.bsky.social 😍 #patientsafety #safetysky #hfesky

Definition of a woman of ‘a certain age’: - Too old to be bullied & intimidated. - Too young to be patronised & ignored. Terrifying to men of a certain type.

maybe the reason it’s middle class women of a certain age is because they’ve gotten the closest to having the same agency as men

Ok so my #3 good things before dozing off on the sofa.... 1)a neighbour visited with fudge & kind words which were exactly what I needed today. 2) bought some Xmas pressies from craftspeople rather than Amazon 3) I survived another day as a middle class woman of a certain age.

Apparently today is a day to be proud of being a #middleclasswomanofacertainage

The moral injury of seeing basic aspects of healthcare not happening is a heavy weight to carry. Its a big risk of burnout to take individual responsibility for what is a huge system problem. Any of us could doggedly work all hours & it wouldnt solve the problem. Important we stay conscious of this.

This is how 'workforce engagement ' is done in the NHS The workforce who deliver care are not seen as subject matter experts. It's is a missed opportunity to really improve productivity and safety

Morning all! @survivinginscrubs.bsky.social is here on Bluesky! This group have worked tirelessly to raise awareness of sexual misconduct and harassment in UK healthcare and are well worth a follow

My 7y old just told her friend she likes being "unfashionably early". 😍

For new followers, I tend to write down my thoughts at www.humanisticsystems.com. I write about work, organisations, systems thinking, safety, and sometimes mental health and, in future, neurodivergence. It also contains more formal writings as well as podcasts, videos, etc.

Great to see some brilliant health leaders joining this platform. A big shout out to @lorrainesunduza.bsky.social, @elainelockhart.bsky.social and @drladesmith.bsky.social to name but a few! I recommend the helpful videos by @kellyscaletta.bsky.social & finding starter packs to join/follow.

Having said this, I'm inspired by the MPs yesterday, sharing their personal experiences in the assisted dying bull debate. We are all (fallible) people first and foremost...
