Growing pains aren't lethal. 😂

Unfortunately, since the Utah Book Awards are administered by a state agency, Utah Humanities, this might be the LAST installment, because their funding was slashed to nothing by DOGE and the Trump Admin. They're working on alternative funding options, but... This was unexpected and brutal.

I had to go check, just to be sure. But I'm already blocking him. Love how effortless it is to curate your own personal algorithm here on Bsky. I rarely see the dregs of humanity on here.

I always appreciate your blogs, I also had a traumatic childhood. I used to have night terrors (& hypnagogic hallucinations) every single night, all night, for years. It was exhausting. I rarely dream anything, anymore. It's a relief & I'm far less exhausted. Lol Glad the spell is over for you!

Of course he was following you. Without you and @gailsimone.bsky.social on Bsky, this place would be stale!

PS. I am often brought dry spices at one of the local Indian restaurants, if I ask for extra spicy. Mostly because I'm white enough that they don't want to be responsible for making me cry. Lol

If you went to Mexico and asked for chili, you'd probably get a pepper of some sort, unless they felt pity on you for being white. Calling a dish by its spice feels like a very white person thing to do, but I could be wrong. However, I'm absolutely not wrong about no beans in Texas chili.

Pfft. You brought masala up, and called it soup, I was just trying to figure out how it applied. 😜

So... masala is the spice mix for the dish, and can be used for many dishes. Adding BBQ sauce to a soup doesn't mean you've barbequed.

I should clarify, I have strong opinions on Indian food: I fucking love it, usually the spicier the better. But I don't get to tell them how to classify dishes. Lol

I mean, I'm too white to have a valuable opinion on Indian food. But isn't masala a mix of spices?

I can't think of any other good reason to suggest putting beans in a perfectly good chili! You must be a troll, @gailsimone.bsky.social. You can't possibly be that demented for real! 😳

I like beans! But, if it has beans, it's soup! 🤷‍♂️

See, I went back to the main feed, and the very next post - there she was, trying to talk about putting beans in chili again! 😱 bsky.app/profile/gail...

I think my best getaway for now is to go hang out on @gailsimone.bsky.social's feed. It's easy to forget about reality, when she starts trolling about food, or starts an argument we can all disagree with each other about (but while laughing).

I've been meaning to set up @deck.blue on my laptop for just that purpose. I'll get to it soon. Lol. I am just venting.

I do, and would never hold back like that. It's just that the smoke is everywhere. I do kinda wish I could flip a switch to hide the anger-inducing part of reality on here for an hour or two, sometimes. Lol
