Oh man, ChatGPT doesn't want to do my tedious manual task for me because it will be too tedious and time-consuming. Suggesting I do it instead. I feel like this isn't what I was promised??!

I’m a massive fan of pedestrianisation. But I’ve never understood why oxford street. It’s pretty much just for buses and cabs now and it’s all shops. Why not say Soho why businesses could actually use the outdoor space, people live and is trying to force private vehicles down tiny roads?

Reform might not think they need a climate policy, but they're going to need a flood risk one - their consituents are literally going to be underwater. Land below annual flood level in 2030 - Kent, Lincolnshire, Doncaster, Southport coastal.climatecentral.org/map/5/0.9412...

In a new @centreeuropeanref.bsky.social policy brief, @johnspringford.bsky.social‬ finds that many foreign workers needed for net zero will not meet the UK's new higher salary and skills thresholds for visas. Read here: buff.ly/E9eFpiH

Some energy bits as I go through the SR - DESNZ easily one of the biggest winners 16% avg growth in capital budget excl. Sizewell investment - Despite small numbers in the speech Warm Homes gets it's full £13.2b promise

In transport, perhaps the single biggest positive of the spending review is it gives areas the long-term funding certainty they need to focus on delivery - making every £ go further. Several years of transport investment being fairly allocated via a needs-based grant is a significant win.

Making this a new announcement is challenging because lots goes to boosting existing programme, so it's more interesting to talk about some additional (but smaller) funding to salient places. Some heavily reform facing seats mentioned, good chance to set up a direct choice with them.

At this stage its easier to list the towns she hasn't mentioned

Why even bother with long-run economic change & industrial policy if you don't get the chance to see it through? Biden went all in on economic change, giving other progressives confidence to back things like industrial policy. But after the Democrats loss many are questioning whether it's worth it?

Gotta love this line in @fionaharvey.bsky.social story “There’s quite a few scientists that say we don’t need to get to net zero by 2050.” [Shadow UK energy minister Andrew] Bowie and his office were unable to name such scientists when pressed. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

A strange island certainly, but if you spend anytime asking people outside of London in focus groups why they like living where they live, why they chose there, guarantee first answer is community.
