Starmer is a KC. He chooses language carefully, well aware of its effects. Squalid, Strangers, cheap foreign labour, he knew he was reaching for the dog whistle. He has signed the death warrant on the Labour Party. Time to get out, explore other alternatives and an opportunity for the minor parties.

Things Labour have just left broken. Voter suppression via tighter ID. FPTP in Mayoral elections. Stuffing the Beeb with populists. Offcom. Attacks by X and FB on democracy. Foreign financing of political parties. Universities. Brexit. Child poverty. What did I miss?

If we’d been told Brexit would cost a divorce fee of £40bn, a further £100bn a year, kill small exporting businesses, increase immigration, lower food standards & deny people access to the latest cancer drugs, no one would have voted for it. It simply can not be defended and must be reversed.

The United States is the richest country in the history of the world. But who benefits from those riches? Consider: the richest 10% of Americans hold nearly 70% of the nation’s wealth – while the bottom 50% hold just 3%. See the problem?

The core trilma here remains the same - the govt needs to accept one of three things: high student migration, higher domestic student fees (or higher taxes to fund universities) or university bankruptcies. Those are the only options, given where we are. Pick one.

Imagine how much money you could have made shorting the stock markets if you knew in advance just how destructive Trump's tariff levels would be. Will this entirely artificially engineered recession/depression mint the world's first trillionaires?

Has anyone out there compiled/documented Jenny Harries’s catastrophic handling of Covid? I could really do with a summary!

After getting caught attempting to blackmail Europe through his illegal Yemen attacks, US oligarch Trump is now threatening the European Union and Canada with more "tariffs" if they sign a trade deal with each other. Sidenote: Trump believes the European Union is a country.

If it weren't for Brexit, Rachel Reeves would have another £50 billion in her purse; plenty enough to boost the NHS, welfare, and infrastructure, and allow for some tax cuts. What a happier and more optimistic Britain that would be. That's the price of the delusional idiocy of Brexit. #RejoinEU

"Getting the UK back in the Single Market and the Customs Union is a prerequisite for creating sustained growth that can improve opportunities for British people across the board"

Genuinely serious, realistic appraisal of our current predicament from @anthonypainter.bsky.social. Highly recommended. anthonypainter.substack.com/p/brexterity...

We are in a doom loop of broken infrastructure, failure of investment, low growth, and lack of confidence Things can only get worse without a govt with the courage to tax and borrow to invest Reeves's refusal to tax and determination to cut is pushing us into recession www.ft.com/content/f590...

Plausible deniability, as a strategy of war. How many “incidents” in what time frame do we require before the word “accident” has to be questioned?

Something is emerging & it needs embracing very very fast. A dawning realisation across the political spectrum that Elon/the Oligarchs are in fact the enemy. Hallelujah. It’s only taken 10 years (ok this last bit when the game was put on steroids!) Now the movement must go global. 99% is the “brand”

“Many see Trump's stance on Ukraine and his willingness to offer Putin concessions as a harbinger for his wider indifference towards Russia's threat to Europe.” Those that don’t see it like that are traitorous sycophants and fools. (FT, Europe Express supplement)

It’s at times like this that the annual £40 billion shortfall in tax revenue caused by Brexit would have been very handy…

Trump would hate this. Let's share it enough that he might see it. By @mortenmorland.bsky.social for the Times.

Thiel is the organ grinder. Vance is his man. Trump & Musk are the useful, egotistical, unhinged, wrecking balls.

The Trump-Putin Pact already exists, and we should act accordingly. There are some things we will never change with nice words or smart clothing. If you are worried about those things, you should understand where Trump's tactics come from. From Russia. A thread. 🧵1/14

Putin, Trump, Musk and Vance are united in their goal to create a world of dictators, oligarchs and empires.

The battle of our day is no longer about Democrats versus Republicans or left versus right. The choice right now is democracy or dictatorship. And we're sliding faster than I ever thought possible into the latter. Everyone must choose which side they’re on.

Reform giving us some much needed light relief. 5 nasty little grifters, cobbled together with prejudice and plastic patriotism, are at each other’s throats because Lowe’s ego (boosted by Musk on X) has clashed with Farage’s. If you think these numbnuts could run the country, you’re off your head.

At this point he might as well just hang the Russian flag outside the White House. www.mirror.co.uk/news/us-news...

Conservative MP Graham Stuart: “We have to consider the possibility that President Trump is a Russian asset. “If so, Trump's acquisition is the crowning achievement of Putin's FSB career - and Europe is on its own.”

Defender of free speech Vance is going to give Trump such a telling off when he reads this!

We had Russia on the ropes. They were crippled by sanctions. They had made minimal headway into Ukraine. Putin had to survive a military uprising within his own ranks. He was down to pleading for conscripts from North Korea. Then he played his ace in the hole. Donald Motherfucking Trump.

Not only will we have the extraordinary situation of the British state defending the right of Ukraine to join the EU, we will have British soldiers laying down their lives to defend the right of Ukraine to join the EU whilst the UK government denies the ordinary British citizen EU citizenship.

Please repost if you agree that the USA and all Western countries owe Ukraine a huge debt of gratitude for its defence of our freedom, democracy and human rights. Slava Ukraini

HEY EVERYONE REMEMBER WHEN TRUMP WAS IMPEACHED FOR DENYING AID TO UKRAINE BECAUSE HE WANTED ZELENSKY TO LIE AND SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT BIDEN AND ZELENKSY WOULDN’T DO IT? Maybe literally one fucking American newspapers could mention this in their, “think pieces,” about what happened yesterday.

Russia doesn’t have enough vehicles for the front line and is now using donkeys as pack animals to carry supplies and ammo. So yeah, don’t tell me Russia is “winning”. Neither side is doing well. Give Ukraine proper arms, not peacekeeping troops, and let them win. Let democracy win.

Berlin today. Dark and tense mood hanging over everything. As ppl head to the polls tomorrow, the stakes could not be higher for Germany’s future and Europe. And everyone knows it here.

NEW: The email went out about 30 minutes ago.

So, Farage struts around on stage in the US, slagging off the UK and the EU, blaming anything but Brexit for us being poorer and unhappier and crawling up Trump’s backside… What a repulsive spectacle he is. If you actually could be put in prison here for ‘saying anything’ he’d be my top pick.

They hate him because of his courage, which is at a level they cannot even imagine, let alone emulate.

For every $1 the IRS spends auditing the top 1%, it can collect $13. For every $1 the IRS spends auditing the top 0.1%, it can collect $26. Laying off 7,000 IRS employees (during tax season) isn't about efficiency. It's about making it easier for the rich to evade taxes.

Trump is a Russian asset. He is a traitor. He must be impeached, prosecuted, and jailed for treason.

Why does the media play along with friendly nicknames for these fascists? His name isn’t JD. I have zero interest in his complex upbringing that resulted in multiple name changes. Let’s just call him by his real name….Little Jimmy. 🤷‍♀️

🎯 the NerdReich are killing democracy, not in the dark but on stage, under the spot lights with the crowd cheering on! The not too distant future looks pretty damn brutal!
