Very optional practice in Frisco today: Only DeSmith, Kraws, Bäck, Blackwell, Bourque, Smith, Bichsel, Petrovic, Lundkvist, and Dumba are skating.

7.

Speechless… Let’s hear your thoughts on Game 1 👇

Esa Lindell... ALWAYS bullseye. FIVE unanswered goals for Dallas in the third period.

Want some depth scoring? How does two goals from Seguin, one from Duchene, and one from Heiskanen taste?

Hold onto your butts.

I think the Stars power play remembers going 0-14 last year... Wow. Did not see this coming at all. 3-3 less than four minutes into the third.

Well, that could help...

Little line shuffling from Dallas since the 3-1 goal (Oskar Bäck the odd-man out with Rantanen double shifting): Granlund - Hintz - Rantanen Robertson - Johnston - Dadonov Benn - Duchene - Rantanen Marchment - Steel - Seguin

Dallas giving Edmonton far too much space in the offensive zone, especially in this second period.

Unfortunate for Oskar Bäck there... his really good closing down poke check in the slot goes right to Nugent-Hopkins for the easy power-play goal.

Draisaitl with a goal plus an assist to Tyler Seguin in the first period.

That shift was a ridiculous example of the skill of Draisaitl/McDavid (who they love to put out after successful PK) and the flowing cycle of all five Oilers. Klingberg fits in perfect, spending that whole shift skating circles around the zone and interchanging seamlessly.

Yup. We back.

No lineup news from Pete DeBoer this morning, so we will find out in Game 1 warmup tonight.

Biggest news of the day… Jamie Benn has apparently gone to a new stick tape job for the Western Conference Final.

I asked Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner about getting insight from former Stars, specifically John Klingberg. “I’m really glad you asked that question because now that’s exactly what I’ll do. I’m gonna have a convo with Klinger after this, so thank you.” Whoops.

I hear these guys are pretty good at hockey.

Jamie Benn on John Klingberg: “He’s put in a lot of hard work to get back to where he is. It’s good to see him back out there on the ice… “Can’t wait to try and run him.”

Stars PP units: PP1: Harley, Hintz, Duchene, Rantanen, Johnston PP2: Heiskanen, Marchment, Seguin, Granlund, Robertson

Pete DeBoer said Harley vs Heiskanen on PP1 will be a feel thing game by game. Plan was for Harley to run PP1 in Game 6, but the coaches believed Heiskanen had good jump so they put him out first. “I’m sure ‘Harls’ will remind us it was probably the wrong call.”

Another deserved and needed day off for Dallas today. We will chat with Pete DeBoer at 11am though.

Random note from last night that I at least didn’t know… The high sticking delayed call before Scheifele scored was actually on Jake Oettinger, not Lian Bichsel.

Is Jake Oettinger the starting goalie for Team USA next summer?

The Dallas Stars have officially become more important than Katy Perry.

‘Nothing Else Matters’ playing at the AAC during handshakes. Followed by Anton Khudobin yelling “we’re not going home.” What a scene.

Not going to lie, the excitement is severely muted for me watching the Jets hug Mark Scheifele, who was in the box for the GWG.

Thomas Harley sends Dallas to the Western Conference Final.

I believe that should have been a penalty shot for Sam Steel. And so does the drama it would have created. Regardless, the Stars have a PP with 14.8 to go in the third.

This is crazy. Puck hits the handle of Oettinger's stick as it comes out of his hand. Still can't believe Appleton didn't dunk that either off a one-timer or into the near-side open net. Wow.

Oettinger's patience and the poorly placed shot by Appleton may have saved the game.

No Morrissey for the Jets in the third period.

Josh Morrissey just limped down the tunnel to the Jets dressing room after that collision with Rantanen.

Well, okay Sam Steel.

We are seeing the best version of Mason Marchment so far tonight. Few big hits, lots of chirping.

The only time the team that scored first lost in this series was Game 1 -- Rantanen answered Niederreiter's goal about five minutes later in the first period. Feels like a very important stretch here for Dallas.

First goal felt so huge in this game. Lots of pressure from Dallas in the first 20, but it's the third chance on a good shift from Winnipeg that breaks the ice. Scheifele gets it (great for him), and now the Jets are dictating.

Stars are a couple of open net misses away from an early lead tonight. On their toes to start.

Stars Game 6 warmup lines vs Winnipeg: 11/7 Granlund - Hintz - Rantanen Benn - Duchene - Seguin Marchment - Steel - Dadonov Robertson - Johnston Lindell - Ceci Harley - Heiskanen Bichsel - Petrovic Lyubushkin Oettinger DeSmith

It’s on.

I don’t watch a ton of lacrosse anymore, but Syracuse beating Princeton 19-18 to get back to the final 4 for the first time in 12 years was a nice warmup. Bring on Game 6 at the AAC.

Pete DeBoer on 11/7 in Game 6: “It just gives us some security to not feel like we have to play overplay Miro. We go into tonight with six… we say Miro’s good to go for 20 minutes… you get an injury or someone gets thrown out of the game… that plan goes out the window.”

Stars will stick with 11/7 again in Game 6. Same lineup expected.

Optional skate this morning, so we will see on lines tonight.

Stars-Jets Game 7 (if necessary) will be at 6:30 CT on Monday.

Pete DeBoer said the decision to go back to 12/6 vs 11/7 in Game 6 will come down to whether they are comfortable with Miro Heiskanen not only playing 20+ minutes, but doing so effectively. Heiskanen played 18:33 in Game 5.
