Happy #Pride!! I am a lifelong ally of the LGBTQ+ community. My first experience with activism and advocacy was volunteering to phone bank, canvass, and register voters to defeat Prop 8 in Cali when I was a teenager. And protest/rally to make our voices heard, of course. 1/

I was informed today that my kind and generous neighbor Lee passed away. He and his wife have always been very sweet to us and my son. He had suffered a stroke before we moved into the neighborhood that impacted his mobility and speech, but he was active and chatty all the same. 1/

To put these top-line budget numbers in context, cuts of this magnitude would effectively mean no new grants in FY2026. The entire extramural budget would go to existing, continuing grants. An abject failure of American ambition. And a betrayal of our global leadership in health science innovation.

They should. My mom died of it at 42. Mind you, I had to get a mammogram and ultrasound yesterday, and my SAG-AFTRA insurance wouldn’t cover the latter. It’s gonna cost me $650. God bless America.
